Gulf of America (24 Viewers)

That'll teach him.

I already call our 51st state Canadia and I doubt it bothers them .... much.

Our 52nd state will be Red, White & Blueland
No matter. The next administration will change it back to Gulf of Mexico

To be fair, I don't think that is uncommon

If you asked 100 people "what country do you live in?" what do you think the break down would be between America, Unites States, Unites States of America and USA would be?

I'd bet more than half answer "America" (and wouldn't be surprised by 80 or more)
Sadly, you're probably right.

If asked, I live in the United States.

I don't care what it's officially called. Like most here I just call it 'da Gulf'.
I follow storms by coordinates anyway.
I get that. Here we go to "the Ocean' or "the beach"

If you live in Baltimore, it's "Youse goin' downey ayshin 'is weeken' hon?" Translated as "Are you going down to the ocean this weekend, hon?"

Now you probably speak some other weird patois
You're just saying that because I grew up next to Lancaster County where they keep some of the Amish.
"Throw the cow over the fence some hay."

Any of y'all catch the Chevron commercial during the Super Bowl broadcast that referred to the "Gulf of America"?

It's incredibly stupid but every day we get closer and closer to a real life Idiocracy.

Also, Apple and Google follow local geographic naming standards, such as the GNIS, so despite how dumb this is, it’s not particularly surprising that the change has been made

Honestly I would probably say America myself

If United States is the correct answer what are its citizens called?

Because it shouldn't be Americans

US citizens. I do real estate signings and the Patriot Act requires proof that you are a "United States citizen"

Yes, it's all kind of splitting hairs. It's easier to say "I am an American," and overseas you are like to be asked if you are an American.

I wonder when the name changes for all of the States with Spanish names will take effect, and what fine Italian names will be used in their stead.
