I'm conducting a very serious survey.
I'm on record as stating that Halo is the best console FPS, ever. Lately, it's become very cool and hip to bag on Halo 3. This perplexes me, truthfully.
So, in trying to understand this phenomenon, I would like answers to the following questions from you Halo haters:
(PS3 people can, I guess, scratch themselves while wondering what the heck we are talking about?? I dunno.)
1) Before playing Halo 3, had you played Halo and Halo 2? If so, how would you qualify your experiences with those games? Did you hate them as well?
2) Suspend your disbelief for a minute and pretend that Halo 3 wasn't hyped to gargantuan levels. Would you still hate it? (I know this is hard, given the amount of hype, but try to pretend and answer honestly.)
3) How much time did you spend playing Halo 3 before you formed your opinion about it sucking? What ranking did you reach before you quit?
4) If you stopped playing Halo because you switched over to COD4, doesn't it bother you that less skill is involved in determining outcomes in COD4?
5) If you stopped playing Halo because you switched over to COD4, how does this jive with your "hype" answer to question #2?
6) Having played numerous other online multiplayer games, can you honestly say that Halo's matchmaking system is matched by any other game? Specifically, in finding a match, variety of gametypes, being matched with people close to your skill range?
7) Has any online multiplayer game you have played ever had such quality support from the developer to discourage cheating, griefing, and other forms of chicanery that are part of online games?
8) Has any online game you've ever played done more than Halo 3 to limit host advantage, off-host issues, and general networking issues that make online multiplayer gaming not fun sometimes?
