Halo haters - answer these quick questions, please (1 Viewer)

And next time you feel like posting in the VG forum...don't. Because it is obvious that you have no clue of the nature or mood in 90% of the posts/threads in this forum.

Maybe I misread. If I did, I apologize. So Mongoose isn't a 360 fanboi and he doesn't like Halo 3?

You didn't misread. Mongoose certainly is a 360 fan and loves Halo 3, as does myself. Much like everyone thats post here has likes and dislikes. Your point?

It was sarcasm, dude. I was altering my style to fit the needs of the VG board. Did I trick you?

I just started playing COD4 online a few days ago. I enjoy it on the skill leveling do in part it doesnt make the game so serious to keep that rank up. Which btw I take very serious while playing meh halo.

I loved Halo3. The love for the first 2 keep the love going for halo3. It wasnt the end all be all but it is a great game I would buy just due to its story and the gaming experience.

Online- It does irk me slightly not being able to lose rank in COD4. So it doesnt show a true picture of your skills like halo does. But like I said it keeps it where all people still have fun without worry about that rank issue.

Also- there are times I wait for 10 minutes for a game when 46k people are online playing halo. But then again The host just cant end the match like they do in COD4 which enrages me.

I am hooked on COD4 online right now but you better believe I will still get meh Halo on. I am working for that 50 and when I get it I will feel better and have a larger sense of accomplishment than COD4 can ever give me.

AND on that. I played in doubles the other day and battle the MLG clan. (Major League Gamers)
They utterly stomped and destroyed me and my partner. Though we did kill em a few times. DAMN MLG.

So in Concensus. I love Halo and will always love it unless Treyarch produces the next version of it or its off shoot.

You know how you throw the MLG guys off their game? Start describing what girly parts look like, blows their minds. They're all like "I thought it was just a front butt".

You did trick me you tricky son of a gun. I didn't think you "got" sarcasm, hince your first post. That'll teach me to read a book by its cover. Thanks for trying to cater to my needs big guy. You are shaping up to be some kind of poster.

and in mongoose's defense, he is pretty lighthearted with his fanboi stuff as all of us are....we respect the decisions in which console we purchased and just have a little fun with the pillow fighting...don't take him so serious

Greeting Major Lamont! This is Major Fred Sanford, calling from 9114 S. Central in Watts. Colonel Grady Wilson is here, along with Sargents Bubba Bexley and Rollo Larson (Rita Larson's boy).

The truck wouldn't start, so Captain Aunt Esther and her loving husband, Private Woody the Wino, have just dropped me off back at the junkyard after being so kind as drive me to the optometrist's office -- your wall of text seemed to put my poor vision over the edge. I used some spectacles from that drawer near the kitchen, but they didn't help. Paragraph much?

Let's look at some issues you raised, one at a time:

I hate Halo 3 because of people like you. That's it. Fanboys, noobs, wanna-be's, my house is bigger than your house kinda people, bullies. Now this isn't an attack on you personally Mongoose.

Sure it is, but that's okay. Us mongooses fight cobras all the time; a little internet jabber can't hurt us. However, your assumption is wrong. I'm not a bully, and my house isn't that big.

There is nothing to gain from bullying people into playing the same games. My interest in this particular discussion is, as I said, for my files. I have files, you see, that need information in them.

I've done a lot of gaming over the years, and I like the Halo franchise. To my mongoosian sensibilities, it is clearly the best console FPS. Obviously, I don't understand the attraction of COD4, and I'm trying to. I don't see why people would choose to eat spam when they could have Grade A angus beef.

Nowadays whenever you play Halo, talk about Halo, hell, even look at the cover box, along with it comes millions of people just like you. Halo is the best, Halo rulz, don't play anything else but Halo, God save Halo. And that's what really gets to me.

Maybe you've been sipping the ripple too much, but that's not the case these days. Most people like you've described have deemed it cool to hate Halo 3, and that's what I'm trying to get to the bottom of. You know, for my files.

You can go check my gamercard just to make sure I've beaten 3; I think you're the kind of person that would do that!

Here, you are totally correct. I am a thorough mongoose, and I have the files to prove it. Since you said this, though, I will not have to check. You wouldn't have said it if you weren't serious.

Truthfully, though, I am speaking more to the online multiplayer component of the game in this thread.

As far as online, I played the second one a lot longer than I played the 3rd one. Why? Because shortly after it came out it was overrun by 12 year olds that like to whine, sing and cuss. Everytime I logged in I felt like I was walking into the doors of a Chucky Cheese. And I hated it! I play enough games online to know that this happens with every game, yes, but you can't sit there and tell me that it doesn't happen the most with Halo. ANY Halo.

Bungie was kind enough to provide us with a "mute" feature in Halo 3, as well as disallowing players to hear opponent's chatter. So other than in the pregame lobby, there isn't much talk going on, and what's left can easily be muted.

It was aggravating in Halo 2, but that stuff cracks me up, mostly. Kids are funny sometimes.

Like someone said earlier, it's all about preferences. Personally, I like video games where I fight real people. Not aliens. That's why I do like the Call of Duty's, The Battlefields and things like that. Doesn't mean I don't like Halo, b/c I do, it's just what I PREFER.

This is the information I am trying to ascertain. I want to know why people prefer other games. It's for my files.

Throwing out the settings, milieu, characters, and plot from the games is hard to do; I understand that. But when you do, in my view you clearly have better functioning software with Halo 3. So much so that the esoteric items listed above can't win another game the victory, in my opinion.

(I'd like to take this moment to thank Sack Happy Saint for his contribution to this aspect of the analysis. I've filed that information away and appreciate his take.)

I'm so sick and tired of some people arguing to death over which system is better and which one can kick the others ***. It's one thing to not have enough money to buy both systems or to even be a casual gamer and you want to know which one will be more accessible to you as a gamer. But some people, INCLUDING YOU MONGOOSE, feel the need to constantly bash other systems just to make yourself feel good.

My first instinct was to deny this, but upon further review I'm going to have to ask you to further define "feel good."

If by "feel good" you mean that I have fun swapping jokes about systems with the likes of antipop, The Hat, Mauer, ZugZug, Buzd, et al, then I am guilty. I have fun arguing about childlike things while I'm at a stressful job (lots of files to keep up with, etc).

I play my xbox360 probably 10 times more than my PS3. Why is that? Because I like the controller better for FPS and most of my friends have 360s and I like staying in touch with them and playing games with them.

I have nothing to add here; I just wanted to make sure antipop had a chance to read this again.

You have to take everything in moderation Mongoose and I think it's time you put down the Halo and said hey to the rest of the world. We will be waiting for you.

A nice, welcoming ending to an otherwise venomous post, though it is a tad bit condescending. It's okay, I'm used to venom (cobras and whatnot).

For the record, I put down Halo quite frequently. And I always come back, and it's always the franchise I compare games to. The reasons are:

1) It's brilliantly designed software by people who play the game and know what works and what doesn't

2) Skill clearly matters, the controls are tight, and it's not frustrating to simply execute what you want to do.

3) The matchmaking systems ensures competitive games 99% of the time

4) finding a game, getting in and out of a game, etc, is simple and intuitive.

The point of the thread is try to help me understand what people see in other games to overcome Halo's distinct advantages. Ultimately, I don't care what you or anybody else plays (except for Twenty4sevenn, who I enjoy rumbling with -- I'd be very disappointed if he played something else). I'm just trying to understand the modern gaming landscape. Plus, I have some available real estate in the file cabinet. I've got files to keep up.

On another note, is no one else completely disturbed by the fact that there is a rabid squirrel running loose around these parts? Do you know the havoc one rabid squirrel can wreak? I recommend everyone dig a hole; you can never have too many hiding spots.

4) How is it that I can dominate a game of COD4 against people with all that prestige, after just having played maybe 20 or 30 games?

5) Please elaborate on your theory of "bouncing around"

The jumping stuff and flying around crap basically through air tunnels.

I'm sure some people like that effect and it is cool at first, but it just gets annoying after a time. At least to me.

At the very least, imho, Halo 3 is an ok game, I don't understand personally how anyone can hate it per say. At the very least its pretty darn fun to play for a week or so.

One thing I do like about Halo is the snow levels. I'll tell ya an aweful lot of effort went into making that snow look real and have some visual texture to it.

I don't see why people would choose to eat spam when they could have Grade A angus beef.

Don't I recall you messing up another beef analogy some time ago, or was that someone else on here? Angus is mediocre. :jpshakehead:
