Has anyone else heard this about DirecTV and the NFL Ticket (2 Viewers)

Well considering over 84% of American households have cable television and DirecTV and Dish Network combine for only 27.4 million households, Cable sure doesn't look like it is going anywhere. When you say sattelite tv is the future do you mean like the year 2100?

How many times do we have to go through this on these forums? Search under HD Lite on Google and you will see a plethora of articles stating that the HD signal on DirecTV is not HD.

Also, kooldak, quoting DirecTV regarding their signal is hardly proof of anything. Again, search under HD lite on google and you will find the truth.

Also from one of your articles on the lawsuit:

Cohen's class action lawsuit came to light this week when Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Peter Lichtman ruled against DIRECTV's motion to compel arbitration in the case.

Mercer said DIRECTV was "disappointed" in the judge's ruling and is now "evaluating our options in light of the ruling."

Obviously, the court feels there is enough proof that DirecTV's HD isn't really HD to proceed with the case.

My understanding is there is no agreed to standard for HD. Without getting too technical, Isn't 480 lines of resolution at 16:9 aspect technically considered HD? Plus wouldn't only sets that are greater than 1080i/p be able to broadcast the difference between an HDTV and a full 1080 signal?

It is only a matter of time before DirecTV is stripped of the Sunday Ticket by congress.

The NFL had to sign an agreement during the merger that they would promise to offer their games to as many people as possible for as reasonable a price as possible.

They already do offer their games to the entire country FOR FREE. CBS,NBC,Fox....ever heard of them? There was no agreement with congres that stated every single game should be offered to every single fan.

Mark my words, the Sunday Ticket on DirecTV is a dead man walking, and I sincerely doubt it will last to 2010.

Thats what they said about Microsoft.

DirecTV did lose the MLB package....maybe he was just confused

DirecTV might be the only one who has the baseball package now.

Nothing official, that I know of.

Major League Baseball is close to a deal that would shift its Extra Innings package exclusively to DirecTV, a satellite television provider, starting in April. The package, which allows fans to watch out-of-market games for a fee, would move off cable television and satellite competitor Dish Network for at least the next seven seasons. DirecTV has agreed to pay $700 million for exclusive rights.

I do not like what MLB is doing here and hope the deal is not completed. Cable and Dish Network fans that have previously been able to enjoy their favorites teams would be left out in the cold, but you know MLB will go for the money.

The backlash against the MLB over this deal has been incredible. If I ever needed any proof that Baseball is still America's passtime this was it.

With Serius and XM trying to merge and the fact that Congress wouldn't allow Direct TV and Dish to merge you can bet your sweet *** that there will no longer be only one carrier for the NFL Ticket. This will be handled in the same manner as MLB Game Plan; i.e. same subscription for all users no matter the satellite provider.

If a satellite would have blown up it would have made the news and I have not read anything about that. I wouldn't go with them just for that fact that the guy was so hard up to disparage another company like that.

Actually I send up a satellite a few months ago that landed in my neighbors pool.
