Payton, 34, was arrested on a warrant for making threatening phone calls. He appeared before a judge in Detroit and was released on bond. He has been ordered to appear in federal court in New Orleans on Feb. 14.

According to an FBI affidavit filed in federal court Wednesday, Payton first called at 9:12 p.m., a few minutes after Saints tight end Jimmy Graham scored a touchdown. "I will blow up your building," Payton said, after he confirmed that he had indeed reached the Superdome.

He made his next call after the Lions failed to convert an onside kick. Similarly, Payton failed to articulately express himself. "Hi, I want you to relay a message to the sideline. If your stupid Southern team keeps winning there will be reper..." and there he apparently reaches a word too difficult for him to say. So instead he promises, "severe consequences, OK?"

We're going to do the smart thing and run this back with DA, he'll go pick up some guy to run w/e 1950's Les Miles offense and he'll get fired in the first 6 games in 23 because they weren't smart enough to move on after 1 season.

I believe that any rumblings from people in Payton’s circle implying that he’s eyeing a possible return to N.O. - are doing so in an effort to possibly generate a buzz for his return to coaching and thus also generate a potential bidding war for his services.

Payton is a calculating person who always seems to be moving and planning behind the scenes. This is the same guy who was allegedly planning a departure to the Cowboys after the 2018 season, just weeks after the franchise experienced the most crushing defeat in its history.

He’s the guy who basically had Brady in the wings after our all-time franchise QB had decided to call it a career in 2019.

He’s the guy who allegedly had a handshake deal to coach the Dolphins in 2022 and bring Brady along for the ride.

When you hear anything out of Payton or his camp, you can assume it’s an angle in an effort to gain either more leverage, money or control in his next gig.

Loomis needs to stand firm and get every single pick we can squeeze out of a suitor. But we need more than one suitor at the table to get max value.

Payton doesn’t need his inner circle to leak lies about returning to NO in order to generate buzz. He’s an all time great, HOF calibre head coach that every team with a vacancy will make a call about. Also, the stuff about the Dolphins wasn’t alleged, it was definitely true, hence the removal of Miami’s 2023 first round pick.

Anyway, if Payton, for some unknown reason, did want to spread lies he sure as hell wouldn’t be telling them to Jeff Duncan.
