I kept seeing references to a Highlander remake with Henry Cavill. I'm not sure how to feel about this. I hate that some people in Hollywood can't think for themselves and does remakes for the sake of it. I still refuse to watch the remake of Total Recall. But an older movie being updated? Sometimes it works, like Planet of the Apes. The original Highlander is such a classic, although I wasn't really sold on a Spaniard named Ramirez with a Scottish accent, but it had such classic names like Conner MacLeod and Kurgan. Anyway, I found a link on IMDB.

Highlander kind of needs a remake so they can iron out the lore instead of having it not make any sense at all. Instead of quietly completely erasing the plot of the first movie....

Yeah to me things like Highlander are where remakes have their benefits. There are interesting concepts there but everything besides the first movie is absolute trash with inconsistent and often contradictory lore and world building.

Yea, they go from "the gathering" being a one night event... to a years long event... to not even existing to begin with in the series, and the movies aren't even in the same universe as either the series or the first movie.

Sooner or later, Drew is gonna get tired of getting used up.

Yeah, it kind of went off the rails after the original movie.

Then the immortals became aliens in Highlander 2.

But then the Director's Cut was like "Nah, that never happened."

Yes, this. I usually dislike remakes/reboots but I’ll make an exception for Highlander. The original movie hasn’t aged well IMO but I still love it. However, I have zero love for everything else. The 2nd movie was awful. The series was OK at times but I could never get into it.

Blow it up and start over. Anything with Henry Cavil in it is going to get my attention.

Highlander 2 was just terrible. It stopped me from watching any of the later movies, which was probably a good thing. But, I did enjoy the TV series.

The original was great, but it admittedly is flawed. All the films that followed were increasingly confusing and downright stupid.
I felt like the tv series tried to return to the original ideas of the film, but the last two seasons became pretty muddled. The last season really started to lose any feeling of continuity and sense, honestly. The film that followed the series trying to wrap it up was absolute nonsense.

It would be nice to see it told with a comprehensive vision instead of the constantly changing mess that we had.

Nerd alert!
Ramirez wasn't Spaniard, he was Egyptian.

Highlander is the movie I mentioned in the thread that asked which movie one wanted to be remade, with Sam Heughan as McCleod, Alan Ritchson as the Kurgan, and Morgan Freeman, just kidding, and Javier Bardem as Ramirez. And not skipping parts of the story.

Bardem as Ramirez would be the shirt.
