Highlight clips of Heath Evans (1 Viewer)

Did anyone happen to notice who was the LB on that Jets 2007 clip who didn't fill the hole where Seau was blocking. Ole # 51 - Vilma. On that play he might as well have been a spectator.

Nice acquisition. Just think of PT behind this.

When will everyone realize that as long as Payton is HC, Reggie is our HB. And with Evan's signing he will now get the short yardage carries that went to PT. PT's role is diminished to 6-8 touches a game.

Oh, and the vid's of Evans make this a great signing and a huge improvement over Karney.

thats what i was trying to get at in a previous post, why sign a more versatile back that can run in short yardage situations and can break off decent gains occasionally (usually on passes) only to use him as a blocker and maybe 1 or 2 passes a game? In games where he was given a decent amount of carries he averaged 4 to 5 yards.

Are you assuming we use Evans the same way that we used Karney? I think it's important to remember, we have no idea, at this time, what role Coach has in mind for Evans.

I sure hope you are right, and Yes I did watch the videos and in my opinion I wasnt impressed at all, they shouldnt be called "highlights"...
You weren't impressed with his burst and obvious speed compared to Mike?

I only get into this because in the past two days you have been one of the biggest anti-Evans posters on here. Believe it or not, we know your opinion on the matter now.

alot of posters seem to think we are, except that evans will be much more effective the 2 times he gets the ball which im hoping isnt the scenario (only 2 catches) You're right we dont know how the coach will use him. Hopefully he utilizes his talent to the fullest. I think that is what he tried to do with Karney, utilize him more as a threat because in training camp last year Karney was alot thinner than usual and they worked on some plays. The loss of weight didnt really make him more agile and faster. He was a great lead blocker though. He was a little more athletic than people give him credit for but nowhere near like Evans. Evans is basically a bulked up HB that can block

Evan like Bush can be used as a decoy. Teams won't know if we are passing or running when he is in. If this was Karney teams wouldn't respect Karney's catching ability.

And if Karney Put up those numbers in Payton's system.

Imagine what Evans will do!

Did you watch the highlights?

This dude is so much off an upgrade, as far as athletic ability, its unreal. Those five yard flats to KArney will now be 15-25 yard gains with Evans. Karney had no feet or cutback ability with the ball in his hand, all he had was power. Karney was a more then willing blocker, which is to be commended, but Evans will just make this offense even more dangerous.

Don't go overboard. Those five yard flats might stretch into seven to ten yard flats. What Evens brings to the table is being to do it consistently if not covered and if he is it takes a defender away from our other weapons. He's going to be a check down read and occasionally get some carries.

Evens isn't going to be a feature in any gameplans, he's a good safety valve that'll allow either/both Shockey and Bush to attack further downfield in the passing game more often and a proven rusher in sitiuational spots.

i can understand that this guy is really upset about Karney. I am too. I dont understand the hate towards Heath Evans. You act like Evans called up Payton and demanded that he get rid of Karney so that he could join the Saints. Evans is a Saint now and I like the guy. He can never replace Karney, just like nobody can replace Deuce. But he is here, and he is a great player, and a great person and Coach seemed set on getting rid of Karney anyway, and I couldnt think of a better player to replace him than Heath Evans, espescially in our system.

He can tell he is so much faster than Karney. Karney is bigger and meaner, but this kid is a lot more athletic

Actually if you look at his stats recently, when the ball has been thrown his way its been anywhere from 10 to around 30 yards he has gained. And when hes gotten a decent amount of carries, he has averaged anywhere from 4 to 5 yards per carry.

so yeah some of his passes will go for 5 or 10 yards but he can get downfield quickly and get some nice yards after the catch

I don't see why there is such debate. You watch that one catch he had where he goes down the sideline for 20+ and you can SEE that he's faster and more like a TE than a FB.

These Evans haters are gnarled into there stats because they have an opinion and have to stick with it and love Mike, but dude...

If you can't see that Evans is an upgrade you're blinded by B&G koolaid or something.
