Hiring Moore = Ashton Jeanty as 1st rd pick? (12 Viewers)

Correct. People on this board act like we have a struggling Oline, and the simple truth is that we currently have as much, and likely more then the talent we ever had on Oline under Brees/Payton era.

A lot of people just don't understand that there are a lot of factors that make an Oline succeed other then talent such as scheme, play calling and a QB that can call out blitzes and adjust the blocking assignments.

Yeah I just don’t understand the common thought here that there is going to be some major OL shift or we need to dedicate premium resources to the position.

We could use a LG, but I certainly don’t see us using a high draft pick on one. I could see us using “solid starter” type dollars on one but certainly not a top 10 first round pick.

We currently have three first round picks and an all-pro second round pick starting. At some point, your guys are your guys.

Dedicating yet another premium selection to fill a OL hole seems foolish to me at this stage.

This will be our OL in 2025 IMO…

LT Fuaga
LG Solid starter type free agent
C McCoy
RG Ruiz
RT Penning

It’s up to the coaching staff to make this group work. Add some depth in the middle rounds or with a free agent or two of Lucas Patrick’s ilk. Patrick wasn’t exactly terrible last year either, btw. If he’s healthy, at a minimal we should bring him back as very good C/G and leadership depth.

I'm in complete agreement with a solid backup at Center. McCoy is good, but he really struggled to stay healthy this past season and I don't think its a good idea to go into next season without a backup your confident in.

This is why I'm watching Jake Majors. He played Center at Texas and was extremely solid, but could also interchange to guard as well. A versatile backup Center that like that is a massive boon incase injuries strike. The problem, is he may end up being good enough to replace McCoy after a couple of seasons, which is a great problem to have.

The expectation is that he will improve. The question is how much. Seldom do we see QB's not improve into their final/senior year. Very rarely do they regress (Carson Beck).

He very well could improve enough to be worthy of a top 5 pick. Also, maybe not. We'll have to wait and see.
Yeah, I was being dramatic when I said UDFA. Just to me last year he looked like a guy worth taking a flyer on like Rattler (4-6rnd). He has all the tools. I haven't seen him put it together yet and most of the board wants to crown him the next Joe/JD already.

Wait. I thought it was impossible to run the ball without top 1st round picks all across the O-line and it's a waste of time to draft anything else even if there's a generational player available at 9.

One of the bigger head scratchers last season (and there were quite a few) was exposing the backup center we pulled from the Jets practice squad, Connor McGovern. He was a lucky find and should have been kept for depth. He was immediately picked up.

Despite what many think they see. Our blocking assignments were constantly not adapting. It almost seemed like at times they were simply trying to block whats in front of them. You could put the blame on the QB position not having a QB that can call out and adjust assignments. But you could also say we had a struggling OC (Which is why I did NOT like Kubiak at all). A fair chance that Moore can fix this, seeing how the Eagles Oline performed. It was originally believed that Kelce had a large part to play in adjusting assignments, but we saw this year that he was actually interchangeable and the Oline didn't regress with his departure despite his replacement being less talented.

This, is a perfect example of why coaching is so important.

So if you ever see me roll my eyes at someone who suggests we draft another tackle in the first round despite having a top 10 tackle duo, now you know why.
I disagree, we had a fully healthy OL basically for 2 games and see what the results were. Then we went through most starting combinations of any OL in the league, sometimes starting a guy we picked up off another team's PS. Kubiak showed what he could do with a healthy OL in the 1st 2 games.

Yes there were a couple games where they were all healthy at the end of the yr but having not played together for most of the yr there was no cohesion. Benton and Dennison are 2 of the best OL coaches out there. To blame KK and the coaching staff for the MASH unit that was our offensive line is a far stretch. The Seahawks agree

This is why I started using mid/late round draft picks for O-line. We have enough high draft capital invested, time to develop and just get some youth/size on there. Our future HC, picked Becton off the scrap heap, inserted him at G and he's a mauler now.

More like Roseman picked him up and Stoutland did his magic

Remember the last time we got a young offensive minded HC, who did he draft? Jeanty, come on down. Super Bowl in 4 years!
