HOF Selections Announced (1 Viewer)

For as good as Brees was, there were times where Jahri was the best player on the team. It’s terrible to see him under appreciated by the people outside saints fandom.

Only helps to reinforce how good Brees actually was as well. It’s rare that Super Bowl winning teams only have 1 hall of famer. How can anyone argue Brees greatness if he ends up being the only one from that team enshrined?

Lastly there are more offensive linemen on the field at any given time than any other position. For none of them to make it is a total travesty and not a great outlook for the future of those positions to get in

Even Mongo think Jahri should be the 4th person announced.

Didn't know McMichael was battling ALS...

Everyone visits: Jim McMahon, Gary Fencik, Keith Van Horne, Singletary, Hampton, Richard Dent. Payton's son, Jarrett, is a constant. When Steve couldn't walk anymore, Hampton and Dent built ramps at the house for his wheelchair. When Steve became bedridden, the teammates would come with a guitar and sing with him. Or read with him. Or watch TV with him.

He retired after the 2020-2021 season so that makes him eligible in 25 or 26?

Im pretty sure Brees is 2026. Peyton Manning was class of 2021 and retired after the 2015 season. Brees retired after the 2020 season, so he would be 2026.

Something to take into consideration when wondering why players aren't in the HOF. Voting is done by the media. A strong press corp in the players city = a stronger case for them getting in. Sure Gates and Evans should be in, however who in their respective media cities are going to make the case for them?
Sort of done by the media but there are only a select set of voters with each NFL team being represented exactly once. There are a few extra at large voters like Peter King (SI), Bill Polian (SiriusXM), and Tony Dungy (NBC - Football Night in America) but they are all hand picked. 18 At Large in total if you include the PFWA vote (Cal Watkins)

I agree The HoF by representation needs more LBers, TEs, and OL...but the limited number of selections allowed always precludes positional representation in any given class.

Perhaps the most surprising thing for me is that Art Powell and Buddy Parker did not make it.. Those 2 were not eating up any slots by adding them. Buddy Parker should have been a slam dunk.

Art Powell has as many TDs as Steve Smith and only 2 less than Megatron in an era where it was much harder to catch passes. I guess he just doesnt have the all around stats are longevity with any one team.

Buddy Parker has a better win % than Chuck Noll, Bill Parcells, Marv Levy, and Jimmy Johnson plus he has two NFL Championship Titles.

Its a pretty rare thing: 1990 Giants (LT), 07 Giants (Strahan - maybe someday Manning), 08 Steelers (Polamalu - maybe someday Roethslisburger or Hampton)

I think the selections overall are solid with Patrick Willis short career being most surprising to me. I had Hester and Freeney on my speculative ballot.

I missed on Andre, Willis, and Peppers as I thought Evans, Gates, and Jared Allen would squeak past them.

Just means more backlog for a super hard to get into HoF.

I think we can all agree that while the NFL HOF process is frustrating, we can all agree that it’s 100000000% better than the dumb as fork baseball HOF process. Those voters can go touch grass.

The 2009 team would already have a HOFer but he was a rapist piece of work.
