I agree. This is something I'd check out maybe in the bargain bin.
Now, Mass Effect Andromeda.. that's something I'd try out at release.
This post did not age well.
Yeah, I was wrong on both counts. I forget why (it was like 4 years ago), but for some reason HZD just didn't excite me at first, but when I actually tried it out, I really enjoyed it. There are a few things about the game that weren't my cup of tea, but overall, I was happily surprised. Also, in general, I don't like buying games new. I prefer getting the same great single player game months later, for cheaper. I was probably a few games back in 2017, so it's not like I was itching for content. I played God of War like 3 years after everyone else.

You've already finished ME2?i played Andromeda when it released and to be honest, it's not a bad game...
but now having played ME1 & ME2, i can see why fans of the series didn't like it
You've already finished ME2?
Wow. No wonder I haven't seen you online much. I'm still finishing up ME1. But I started doing side quests. I'm not just at the 'go collect this' phase, which I really don't enjoy, so I'll probably roll on to Illos.yeah, i'm about 10 hours into ME3

Maybe I should ask on the ME thread, but how did you like the second one? The first is decent, but 2 is just better written from what I recall. 3 starts out very strong too.
True.since when have we ever discussed anything in it's proper thread??
ME2 is a far superior game in almost every way....the combat and exploration is so much better than the first one
i think the story in ME1 was better....the stakes felt bigger....
i honestly wasn't a fan of the way ME2 started....the Normandy getting destroyed and Shepard "dying" then being turned into a science project felt forced and unnecessary...i also didn't care for the 75 squad mates to choose from...it was just too many and it didn't really matter who you chose for missions....since they scrapped the decryption and electronics skills from ME1, every NPC was basically the same character wearing different skins
I played about an hour of ME1. Should I resolve to get back into these?
Yeah, I think as they focused more on consoles (ME1 technically was an Xbox release, then, PC, but it seemed to have a bigger PC following, if memory serves). ME2 seemed more designed for consoles and to placate the FPS crowd, and ME3 went full tilt. It also had an online portion to further add to the FPS tilt.i don't know which squad characters from 2 are DLC but there are too many of them...and they are all fine as characters but like i said, it made no real difference in who you chose because they all basically did the same thing
and it was weird that you use the hovercraft thing quite a few times early on but then it's just forgotten about in the second half of the game...i actually really liked driving the Hammerhead much more than the Mako
one thing i noticed about the trilogy is that it starts as an actual RPG with ME1 and by ME3 it's basically just a third person shooter with some lite RPG elements
