I don't see Rizz getting the spot, but I am curious if he doesn't get a HC opportunity, if he stays on staff. Obviously that's up to the new head coach, but I wouldn't mind him staying as SPT Cord.

That is simply your opinion, and it could very well be facts. However, there are some coaches out there who want and need stability. There is no other opening that shows the FO is willing to display patience with a coach like us. We have a very stable FO, and while we may disagree with "kicking the can" the FO has shown over and over that if they think this team can be a contender, they'll manipulate the cap and spend the money to do what it takes to try and put a winner on the field. Sure, we have some things working against us. We also have some things working for us that do not get talked about enough. We're the worst landing spot for a new coach, and it isn't particularly close.
How many of the Saints potential new coaching candidates would have to say no before they decide to just go with Rizzi on a 3-year 'Prove it' deal?
That's an excellent point about '06, when the head coach opening had to be considered much less appealing than now. But we got very, very lucky. Lightning in two bottles at the same time. This speculation has me wondering if the job is considered better worse or about the same as it was in 06?
I’m far from a sunshine pumper but I believe we will be ok, things were pretty dire back then and we landed not only the best coach we’ve ever had but also the best QB we’ve ever had.
Granted it took other places turning Sean and Drew down, but we still got em. Both of em future hall of famers to boot.
We’re gonna be ok.
Rizzi deserves equal consideration over Klingsberry!

I don’t disagree. Just had me thinking as folks are saying how terrible it is now. I remember all of that like it was yesterday and as stated, I think we will be just fine.Considering there was talk that the team would move and that the City of New Orleans may shrink and die after Katrina, I think it's clearly a better job now. And that's if we don't take into account that we now have a Super Bowl win and 15 years as a contender in our history. The history of this organization in 2006 was abysmal with one playoff win and few playoff appearances.
Yeah I definitely see some parallels, especially with fan sentiment, although I think it was worse back then. We sure did strike gold twice, very thankful for that. That's an excellent point about '06, when the head coach opening had to be considered much less appealing than now. But we got very, very lucky. 1. Patriots - Drake May, $122m in cap space, 4th pick in the draft. That is NOT the case right now
Yes we’re below the Patriots and maybe the bears but a reporter even said he was hearing the saints are pretty coveted.
I think some saints fans WANT to believe it’s a worse job than the Jets,Jags,Raiders etc when it is not true.
Jets are my AFC team, they’re a mess too. I’d say we’re tied with them lol.1. Patriots - Drake May, $122m in cap space, 4th pick in the draft.
2. Bears - Caleb Williams(not a great rookie season but jury is still out), $80m in cap space and some talent on both offense and defense.
3. Jaguars - Trevor Lawrence( flashes of being very good, injured a ton, still feels like the potential for a top tier QB) 5th pick in the draft.
4.-6. Everyone else - I think you can find reasons to pick any of the Jets, Saints, Raiders jobs and find plenty of pro's and con's. If you forced me to picks I think I would do:
4. Raiders - Good cap space, Brock Powers and Max Crosby are beast.
5. Jets - Some cap flexibility, some really good talent on the team.
6. Saints - At least another year to get cap right, lack of talent and tied to aging players.
Agree. I just wonder how much a potential candidate worries about the FO beyond his dealings with the GM.That is simply your opinion, and it could very well be facts. Easy to win the division
Stable FO
GM that is willing to stick by his guy no matter who disagrees, even the owner
etc
To answer your question, hopefully, there is not an amount that could turn us down that we would go back to Rizzi. It's time to move forward.
