How many candidates would have to turn them down before they run it back with Rizzi? (13 Viewers)

We're the worst landing spot for a new coach, and it isn't particularly close.

How many of the Saints potential new coaching candidates would have to say no before they decide to just go with Rizzi on a 3-year 'Prove it' deal?
That is NOT the case right now

Yes we’re below the Patriots and maybe the bears but a reporter even said he was hearing the saints are pretty coveted.

I think some saints fans WANT to believe it’s a worse job than the Jets,Jags,Raiders etc when it is not true.

Salary cap hell, average QB with uncertain future, aging defense.

Disagree.

Didn't SR say the same thing when the Saints were looking at OCs to replace Pete? That nobody would want to come here? And didn't they land one of the top OCs making the rounds?

All those things are fixable and temporary. A bad owner isn't.

An nfl head coach is the pinnacle of the coaching profession. No assistant coach would turn down a head coaching job in the NFL unless he had other similar options.

Besides that, apparently the job is a little more desirable than you think

I agree the Jets with Woody Johnson as the owner is probably worse

We're definitely not the worst landing spot, but we ARE a very mixed bag. I think the Saints organization has a good reputation for being pretty buttoned up in general where you couldn't say that about Las Vegas, NYJ and maybe Jax. I think the Pats and Bears jobs are both much better options having just drafted decent young QBs and having a ton of cap space to shape the team. The Raiders also have a ton of cap space and a really really good TE, but no QB.

The Saints have been loyal and patient to a fault, but that won't be seen as a negative to a coach. What will be seen as a negative is the lack of immediately available resources to make the roster the way they want it to be and that might be a turn off for some coaches that want to put their stamp on things quickly and not coach another guys left over team.

As far as Rizzi goes, if he is allowed to interview with the Jets I think he'll make a good impression there. He may not be the flashiest choice for them, but he's tough and the fans will love him and that might be enough. So I don't think we'll get to the point of having to run it back. There are enough candidates that know this team that one of them will come here and Rizzi will be on his way.

Rizzi is not getting a HC position in the NFL this yr. If he's serious he needs to try and get either a position coach position on either side of the ball or take a good college HC position to get experience running a program. Then make the jump if he has success

This speculation has me wondering if the job is considered better worse or about the same as it was in 06?

I’m far from a sunshine pumper but I believe we will be ok, things were pretty dire back then and we landed not only the best coach we’ve ever had but also the best QB we’ve ever had.

Granted it took other places turning Sean and Drew down, but we still got em. Both of em future hall of famers to boot.

We’re gonna be ok.
