How much was Sundays offensive woes caused by the last minute Carr decision? (1 Viewer)

With so many put routes Sunday I got to wondering if PC had planned for Winston to play instead of Carr. I am not a good enough football guy to tell you if JW might need the out routes more due to his abilities. But I could see where PC would not change a game plan in the last minute because Carr was starting.
can anyone tell me if this was possible? I still think it’s horrible play calling either way.

It’s my understanding that Carr took 1st team reps for goal line (though that was completely unnecessary based on how the game went) and then a majority of 1st team reps late in the week.

So I think it was pretty certain that Carr was starting baring a setback of some kind.

Usually teams install the special packages late in the week, and Carr got plenty of reps with our base offense in camp, so I don’t think it should have been a problem for him.

Carr was mentally prepared, but his throwing shoulder wasn’t fully ready. DA said Carr was still feeling sore after the game. His injury had some impact in the offense’s ineffectiveness.

Carr was able to make every throw, and had enough practice reps. He/we just flat-out sucked, pure and simple.

We did suck, Carr sucked, Carmichael the whole bit but I saw a few passes that told me Carr was not 100% you had to have noticed. The TV crew even made comment on the one he was short on to Olave.

PC has a poor scheme and there is nothing these guys can lay their hats on to say they do well, they just run random plays that do not play to anyone's particular strengths or skillset.

I guess you don't differentiate between making a throw and making an accurate throw.

The game plan might have been for Winston to avoid the middle of the field and then Carr inherited that plan to throw mostly outside. It looked like he realized he couldn’t make a lot of those throws and just kept dumping down to Kamara. Bucs figured that strategy out early.

I guess you don't differentiate between making a throw and making an accurate throw.

He had a better completion % vs. Tampa than he did against Carolina when his shoulder was perfectly fine. He's just not nearly as accurate as Drew, and I like Carr. He misses throws sometimes.
