That game reminded me some of the NFC Championship in 09. Back & forth, then the late turnover when minny was driving wins the game.

I was thinking the same exact thing.

How we won the game is through an opportunistic defense. Exactly how we won in 2009. We beat a playoff team in a playoff type situation. What more do you want

They want 90 to 0 wins with 10 interceptions a game even then.....

Random thoughts:

We got little from our TE's today.
The same names were called repeatedly- Thomas, Kirkwood, Ginn, Kamara. Ingram ran strong. (Is Tampa Bay's Humphries up for grabs next season?)
I'm really disliking the Taysom Hill trick plays. Brees is in, but as a receiver? Brees is the lead dog and the most accurate QB in football. No one thought he was going to get a pass,

1. Yes on the Tight Ends, it is actually the one true glaring sore spot on an otherwise well rounded, balanced team. Drew Brees used to love attacking the seams right behind Linebackers, but we don't really have a Tight End that can run that seam route that effectively. Watson is more of an underneath guy, and Hill is more of a blocker, would have been interesting to see what Hoomanawanui could have provided if he was healthy.


2. Adam Humphries is more of a slot WR, and he is an Unrestricted Free Agent in 2019. Don't know that we'll pursue him but he'd be an upgrate over Carr.. Tampa Bay will most assuredly want to re-sign him as he's been their 3rd best receiver this year behind Evans, and Godwin (DeSean has been inconsistent, and struggled with injuries).


3. The Taysom deep shot was an aggressive play call, some would argue maybe over aggressive. They wanted to break the tendency of Taysom always running, or handing off and hit them with a Deep shot. There was actually a window to fit that ball in there but Taysom hung the ball up too long with too much air. Maybe not enough throwing reps on the year, to develop that timing and maybe shows Taysom isn't all quite there on the mechanics to make that throw coming in cold just yet? The Saints were moving the ball very well on that drive, and were actually pounding the run very well; would have much preferred a designed run there. But hindsight is 20/20.
