In order for a draft day trade to fall into place both teams have to be motivated. In this case the Saints have a conviction on Ward, and the Titans, though they are attempting to conceal it, have a conviction on Will Levis.
The below quote is from Feb 4.
It’s possible things could have changed, but I doubt it. The Devil you know vs the Devil you don’t makes this an easier decision for Titans because Levis’ projection to the NFL is more clear than Ward’s. The Titans want out of this pick.
The ideal scenario for Titans would have been a move back to 3 so they’re still guaranteed Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter. However, the Giants appear out of 2025 QB market after signing Russel Wilson/Jameis Winston as QB 1&2. They’re probably fine sitting at #3 now.
Leaving the Saints who will offer capital, but if one of your targets was Travis Hunter, Olave would be an ideal consolation prize. Outside of T-Mac/Hunter - Olave’s an easier projection than say Luther Burden or the next tier of WR’s. Picking at 9 also keeps you in range for a CB like Will Johnson.
Still that’s not the best part of what Saints have to offer.
If they truly have a conviction on Levis, acquiring Carr after June 1st could be part of the trade package down the line. It would give Levis the “sturdy” veteran competition they are seeking while raising their floor in the AFC South.
The Browns are a dark horse but they can just sit at #2 and take Hunter, Shadeur, or the Edge…so no real value in them moving up either.
Saints will get to #1 when it’s all said and done and I think it won’t be the overpay people are expecting.

"We're going to give every opportunity to Will," Borgonzi said in Titans.com senior writer Jim Wyatt's report Tuesday. "He's still a young quarterback in the league, and he hasn't had a lot of stability in terms of coordinators at Kentucky, or this level. Sometimes it takes time. He's been changing systems, really since college. Will has a lot of physical talent, and we're going to give him every opportunity to play here."
