I’m convinced the Titans are still high on Will Levis

I'm interested to see how much of the QB talk is actual belief from teams or if this is another 2022 where Scouts and GMs intentionally leak lies about the QBs in an attempt to get a team to bite and trade up. A lot of conflicting reports and roller coasters about team's and the QBs they like one day and aren't sold on the next.

Could be a bit of both. This QB group is underwhelming but there is still some talent here that can be groomed to be successful. 2022 was dryer then the Sahari desert in QB talent.

I don't think anyone in Tennessee is foolish enough to think that Levis is a top 32 QB. But from an ownership and GM perspective I could see it happening. Ownership is forcing the new GM to stick with Coach Callahan at least for this year. But if you're not feeling too strong about him or Ward, it would make a lot of sense to trade down for a kings ransom and see if Cally and Levis can make something stick. And if not, they'll be in a prime position to acquire a lot of young talent in addition to a new coach and QB in 2026.

There’s so much pressure when you’re drafting #1 and you’ve got a young starting QB that’s about 50:50 on being a franchise QB or not.

You can’t be wrong in either direction. If you trade him and get the shiny new toy, then Levis becomes Carson Palmer while Ward busts, it’ll take 10 years to live it down. But if you commit to a lemon and Ward is Donovan McNabb 2.0, oof..

I think they’d have to push their chips all into 1 QB, and I can’t see them not deciding Ward with more talent and being able to restart their staff grace period feels like the superior option.

McNabb with Andy Reid or without him?

Would it have been nice if McNabb won a Super Bowl or two, sure. But I’d be very happy with this from a number 1 overall pick.

This “Super Bowl dynasty or bust” mindset has become like a viral parasite within our fanbase. I’ll be glad when we are all cured from the high of the Drew Brees era. It was fun while it lasted, but that’s not normal NFL life.

In order for a draft day trade to fall into place both teams have to be motivated. In this case the Saints have a conviction on Ward, and the Titans, though they are attempting to conceal it, have a conviction on Will Levis.

The below quote is from Feb 4.

It’s possible things could have changed, but I doubt it. The Devil you know vs the Devil you don’t makes this an easier decision for Titans because Levis’ projection to the NFL is more clear than Ward’s. The Titans want out of this pick.

The ideal scenario for Titans would have been a move back to 3 so they’re still guaranteed Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter. However, the Giants appear out of 2025 QB market after signing Russel Wilson/Jameis Winston as QB 1&2. They’re probably fine sitting at #3 now.

Leaving the Saints who will offer capital, but if one of your targets was Travis Hunter, Olave would be an ideal consolation prize. Outside of T-Mac/Hunter - Olave’s an easier projection than say Luther Burden or the next tier of WR’s. Picking at 9 also keeps you in range for a CB like Will Johnson.

Still that’s not the best part of what Saints have to offer.

If they truly have a conviction on Levis, acquiring Carr after June 1st could be part of the trade package down the line. It would give Levis the “sturdy” veteran competition they are seeking while raising their floor in the AFC South.

The Browns are a dark horse but they can just sit at #2 and take Hunter, Shadeur, or the Edge…so no real value in them moving up either.

Saints will get to #1 when it’s all said and done and I think it won’t be the overpay people are expecting.
This has to be one of the most hopium-induced projections I have seen in some time. Well done. No harm in throwing it out there into the universe, I guess...

I admittedly know nothing about any QB coming out of college other than most pundits saying it’s a weak class, so I don’t know how I’d feel about this move. I badly want the Saints to finally man up and take a QB high since they haven’t taken one that high in over 50yrs, but would be disappointed if they finally did it in a weak class.

Why is the door even open to a possible trade? If they think Ward is the guy, they need to make it clear to anyone who might call that there won’t be a trade.
That’s what the Bengals did five years ago with Joe Burrow. The Dolphins were obsessed with trading up to get Burrow. The Bengals refused to even listen.

If you really wanted the Ward you'd be shooting down all trade offers, not saying "it's going to take a huge package of picks".

Bears did the same thing last year with Caleb and Fields. Everyone knew Fields was gone but they're going to see what they can possibly get for the pick, never going to fully show their hand this early before the draft, and it's disrespectful to the player.
