When we drafted Trey Hendrickson, I didn't see him as being tough & durable enough to play the position. I didn't feel he would be anywhere near dominate and I referred to him as soft when he would get injured early on.
Trey has absolutely changed my mind he is the kind of guy that we want & need on our team! His passion and motor is unmatched!! He's actually changed my mind awhile back but he can be used as an example as someone who can beat all odds.

The guy plays with a passion that is contagious and he seems to make plays every game. Good rotational player with Davenport playing lights out also, which gives this DL some great depth across all four positions.

The staff have done a hell of a job in recent years to find and develop dlineman. They’re developing so many homegrown quality player on that defensive line that it’s pretty crazy how young we’ve become. Oneymata, Hendrickson, Granderson, Tuttle, Roach, and so on. They continue to find and add new guys every year.

He was late 3rd pick. Nobody is really blaming you for doubting him.

It's just a testament of how great the 2017 draft and honestly... Once in a generation draft.

Amazing draft:

In the first round, the New Orleans Saints selected cornerback Marshon Lattmore from Ohio State. Lattimore went on to have 52 tackles, 18 pass deflections and five interceptions in his rookie campaign which landed him as the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Tackle Ryan Ramczyk was selected in the first round as the 32nd pick from Wisconsin. Ramczyk was an opening-game starter who played every offensive snap and was pivotal in the success of the offensive line, which suffered multiple injuries.

Safety Marcus Williams was selected in the second round as the 42nd pick and was an opening-game starter who had four interceptions and 57 tackles.

Running back Alvin Kamara was the biggest steal from the third round. Kamara was the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and scored a franchise rookie record 14 touchdowns. Kamara and Mark Ingram went on to make running back history for the Saints by tallying more than 1,500 yards each.

Linebacker Alex Anzalone was selected in the third round and started the first four games before a shoulder injury ended his season.

Defensive end Trey Hendrickson was also a third-round selection who went on to have two sacks and forced a fumble. Defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad was the final pick up in the sixth-round and played in four games during the 2017 season.

I for one always thought he was a solid pick, he was a sack machine in college and showed that high motor and football ability that made him a lunch pale guy who would fit well on this team as a contributor to the defensive line.

Well don't get too attached. The dude will command a large contract.

...
Definitely one of our best 5 drafts ever. I would probably rank it currently fourth behind 81 and 06. Currently 86 would be slightly ahead, but if AK stays healthy he will eventually look better than all 3 of the 86 Backs combined.

I’ve had a lot of takes, some good and some bad. This is one that I will always be happy about. The joy when Lattimore fell to 12 (he was projected as a top 5 pick that could go as high as 2), and Hendrickson late 3 when we’d addressed all other needs. The Saints’ 2017 draft was magical.

Been saying for a while, that's the kind of draft that can win you a Super Bowl.......just like 2006 eventually did for us.

Makes me sympathize a bit with Al-Quadin Muhammad, being literally the one guy on that draft list that isn't still actively contributing to the team. And even he got some playing time in 2017....... Whereas we had 2 players from that epic 2006 draft who never saw the field in the regular season, as far as I remember.

We could even throw Taysom in there as an honorary 2017 draft pick, since we stole him away from Green Bay's practice squad as a rookie.
