I live in NOLA. I'm a die-hard Saints fan. I couldn't care less about LSU. Ergo, radio sucks. (2 Viewers)

I did an experiment once where I randomly turned the station to WWL throughout the day, and I'm not kidding, 8 out of 10 times it was a comercial, and I'm not talking about just at the top of the hour. It is a ridiculously bad station!

What I'd like to do is tune in from 5PM to 6PM with a stop watch and see just exactly how much content there is. I'm guessing it's MAYBE 30 minutes, with 10 of that being news/traffic.

that's funny, any time I tune into WWL it's a commercial.

It's 1,000 times better than living in Texas and only getting UT and Cowboys talk on the radio 24/7.

Count your blessings, it could be much, much, much worst. LSU fan or not.

SiriusXM cured me of that curse.

i got Sirius since i live in Houston and couldn't stomach the incessant Texans/Astros/Rockets/UT talk.. but damnit if there aren't just as many commercials on Sirius, especially on the sports talk channels.. and the worst part is that i actually pay to be bombarded with those commercials.

Unless they went to school there, New Orleanians that root for LSU just strike me as bandwagoners. "Well the school that actually plays in my city sucks so I'll just root for the team an hour and a half away that's better." No. If you want to root for LSU you should pay the toll of actually having to live in Baton Rouge. Those brave souls have earned it.

why are they bandwagon jumpers?? Who should people from new orleans root for Tulane, UNO? I never understand the hate for who people like LSU. It is the flagship college of this state. I live in lafayette and root for all louisiana teams.

I can't believe some of you people have turned which sports team you like into a battle of "I'm more punk than you."
No one on this board "discovered" either LSU football or Saints football.
Anyone can like a team more or less at any point in their success.
It doesn't make anyone any MORE of a fan than anyone else.
Get over yourselves.

I think the answer is that there is no content between 5:00 and 6:00. Even when Deke and Bobby are on, there isn't any content to the show.

I grew up in New Orleans, I went to school here from Pre-K through 4 years of college. I was watching Saints games with my Dad as far back as I can remember. I didn't go to LSU. Some of my family did (including my dad and my sister, in fact). I LOVE listening to Saints talk on the radio, but it seems like more often than not, when I tune in WWL or WIST, it's all LSU. You would have thought the world stopped turning when Jordan Jefferson got arrested.

Look, I understand there's a huge LSU fanbase in New Orleans. So I don't necessarily think there's anything wrong with featuring LSU stories on NOLA radio. So what's the point of this rant, you ask? Just to vent that it's freakin' annoying when I get in my car and feel like hearing some Saints talk, but it's all LSU talk instead. Do I think it anything should be changed? Maybe, maybe not. Am I going to get tons of "thumbs down" for this? Oh hell yeah. :) I'll probably set a new record.

Maybe Baton Rouge and New Orleans should just go to war so everyone else that doesn't live in either city can stop reading about this mostly imagined feud.

Out of sheer boredom while I was stuck in traffic on the way home from work today, I called in to WWL when Hokie was on and asked, in a nutshell, "Even though we have many of the same players on defense as the 2009 team, why isn't the defense playing as opportunistically or creating as many turnovers as the 2009 team?"

His answer: "You hit the nail on the head: We're not creating turnovers like the 2009 team." He then went on a 5 minute rant about how important turnovers are.

So basically:
"Why aren't we creating as many turnovers?"
"Because we're not creating as many turnovers. Turnovers are very important."

:blink1: Thanks Hokie, that really cleared things up. I'm glad I called.

I can tell you exactly since my commute is 4:50 to 5:50 -

From 455 to 5:10 its commercials mixed with "news break" ( usually lasts 2 min of local and national news ) then :30 of traffic ( that happened 30 min ago - not even close to real-time )

from 5:11 to 5:21 Deke and Bobby.

Then repeat above to 5:31.

5:31 to about 5:34 Deke and/or Bobby plugging local biz. They take one call (if at all ) usually cut the caller off and Bobby answers over the segway music.

5:37 or so til about 5:42 is LSU report with writer from Tigerbait.com.

5:42 til 5:46 commercial

Its insane. I counted 18 min of pure Saints/LSU talk in 50 min.

I can tell you what will get WWL to talk about Tulane, let them win 2 NC's in 7 years with a chance to win a third in 8 years. Simple solution to your problem.

People like to complain about the attention that LSU gets but they get it for good reason. They are number ONE in the entire country.

Are you currently wearing tiger stripe zoobas pants, standing over a huge tub of jambalaya, stirring it with an old 2 x 4?

I bet you are, aren't you.

Are your dentures in, or are you sporting the natural three upper teeth look?

Also, one more thing: Saban.

:hihi:

At least we have LSU? :idunno:
