I have a Fujitsu N Series Lifebook and have been getting an I/O Error whenever I have tried to use the CD/DVD player. Since I have a desktop it hasn't really been that big of a deal to fix but now I want to resolve the issue.

The problem may be that my CD/DVD driver is out of date/old. How can I tell if this is the issue and how can I update the driver? Is there a website that will allow me to update free driver updates?

I would be very surprised if it's a driver issue - optical drive drivers are pretty generic - they haven't changed much in a long time.

It sounds more like a dirty lens. Have you tried several different discs? An audio disc, a data disc, a DVD?

You may be right Buzd, because "SOMETIMES" it will play the dvd but most times it will give me the I/O error.
