Over the last few days, I have seen a few posts on social media criticizing Carr for not being in the city because the Super Bowl is happening. People feel Carr has missed an opportunity to fully grasp the New Orleans culture by not participating in Super Bowl-related events similar to how Jameis, AK, Drew, and Colston have. I'm not bothered by what this guy does in his spare time; I only focus on whether he can win Sunday football games when he puts that Saints uniform on. I'm not just zeroing in on Carr; that's for everyone.

He's just not into the city like that, and that's okay in my book. That concludes my Ted Talk.

I didn’t know that he wasn’t in town for the Super Bowl until this post. That is a huge red flag IMO.

It’s not just about New Orleans culture.

It’s about the Super Bowl being in your current teams’ city and you should want to be around it to some extent as an NFL player that aspires to reach the Super Bowl. If he wasn’t even out there for a day or two during this week, then idk how much he cares about the city or the Super Bowl itself.

Google "Derek Carr" right now.

Every article is about how we could cut, trade, or bench him going into next season. Everybody knows this all hangs on the wishes of Kellen Moore. He and his family are likely bracing themselves for important news about their lives to drop in the next couple weeks.

He's a human.

I don’t blame the guy for wanting to be where his family and friends are. His kids probably made most of their friends somewhere else before moving to NOLA also.

Saints twitter is unbearable when it comes to Carr, and they hyped up Rattler so much even though he wasn’t ready. A lot of group think going on there.

IDK, and I mean that in the nicest way. Like others have said, this is probably his last season with us.

He’s here because we paid for his services.
Aren't they all?

And really, how many players "grasp N.O.'s culture" because they want to, not because they feel obligated to do so, or because their PR firm tells them to do so?

Sure, you'll find your Demario Davises and your Ben Watsons here and there, who truly care about the communities they live in, but that goes beyond just "grasping a culture".

I don't care if Carr eats at Chipotle with his family (and I do have a legitimate hueso to pick with that place); or that he leaves with his family during SB week or Madi Gras or whenever the city is crowded; play football, play it well, show you are a leader on the field (and it'd be nice if you kept the whining and hospital balls to a minimum). That's all I am concerned about.
