If it was you picking , what are your preferred top 4 positions to take in the draft and who would it be? Your mock draft ? (2 Viewers)

To maybe get this moved where it belongs instead of being yet another trite mock draft thread hope that helps
Well, It's kind of sad that it's bothering you so much.
Didn't know you were there post police?

I would suggest just move on to another post and not worry about it. Others responded

It's about this time every year that I've had my fill of mock drafts.

We've probably had every draftable player mocked to us in one draft or another.

Just get to it already.

Ok, so why bother commenting on this thread?

Just to be one of those guys?🙄

Nothing better to do ?

Mission accomplished
I see this as more of a mock "cloud" vs regular mock draft thread. We can discuss a group of a few players that may be available at our selection.

In the first I would like a CB like Will Johnson. I do like the TE Warren as well and would take him over Jeanty. McMillian kinda scares me with his work ethic but these stories could just be draft noise to make him drop. Actually I wouldn't even care if we picked the Safety Starks. The more I type the more I realize we have soooo many needs and options that's it'll be hard guess this pick.

In the second I'd swap the positions. If we went CB in the first then give me Loveland or Taylor at TE. I doubt Tyleik Williams is still around at 40 but he would be a good pick in my mind. I really just want some impact players.

At 9- I would go Mason Graham and then Will Johnson
40- Alfred Collins and then Azareye'h Thomas
71 and 93 Harold Fannin and Gunnar Helm
If by some stroke of luck he fell to us, Graham is my choice too. I like violence.

And if I recognize the name and number of the 2nd and 3rd , or any round pick by the end of the year, I’ll consider that a winning pick. Hope I know them all. Doesn’t matter if they throw, run, catch, tackle or block people or passes.

1-9 LB Jihaad Campbell
2-40 CB Shevon Revel
3-73 Wyatt Mikum LG/LT
3-91 CJ West, NT

I’d love Jeanty but he’ll be gone by pick 6 to either the Patriots or the Raiders

Full disclosure, if Moore sees a franchise QB he wants to hitch his career too, I want that guy drafted. Otherwise

TE - Quite a few here. Love Warren, but Mason Taylor and Luke Lachey are good too.
RB - So many to choose from. Jeanty, Hampton, Skattebo, Raheim Sanders even looks promising if his knee is fully healed
OT - So many to choose from plus we can slide Penning inside where he might be better. Banks, Simmons, Connely, Belton and many others
LB - Davis is up there and we need an heir apparent. Demetrius Knight Jr looks like a great candidate. Maybe Kiser as well
DL - We only have 1 true NT and there are quite a few in this draft. I also like some of the DT's that could play DE in a 3-4 like Deone Walker

BPA at 9 - Sanders, Graham, Walker, TMac, Banks, Johnson - I don't care whoever has the highest game changer status on their board
OG or OT at 40 - Mbow, Savaiinaea, Williams, Jackson, Connerly, Ersey - whoever they think can start right now
WR or TE at 71 - Higgins or S Williams or Franklin
CB at 93 - Strong or Bryant or Parrish
RB at 110 - Tutten
DE or NT at 130- Caldwell, S Jones from lsu, maybe even Ryland for OLB

Assuming you are the GM and the draft lines up the way you want it. What position would you take at the Saints current position in the draft and who would you take at that position?

Ex. Saints picking
  • Round 1: No. 9 overall
  • Round 2: No. 40 overall
  • Round 3: Nos. 71 and 93 overall
With first pick, in my opinion, I would probably take CB Will Johnson Michigan. The new defense is going to need a shutdown corner and he looks to me like a safe pick to replace Lattimore. My secondary pick for 1st round would be LB Jihaad Campbell because I feel he would also fit with this new defense.

The second round I would assume players like Quinn Ewers, Quishon Judkins, and Alfred Collins would be gone. So might have to look at TE. So I would probably take a look at Mason Taylor LSU TE ( yes I have LSU bias, but I don't think he would last long in the 3rd round and he is a big receiver that runs good routes) I would kick Juwan Johnson out to big reciever and line up Taylor on the line. My secondary pick for that would be the big DT from Michigan Kenneth Grant. He could be a capable NT at his size.

The third round gives you chance to pick Kamara's eventual replacement . I would probably take Omarrian Hampton RB North Carolina and probably Kyle Mccord from Syracuse or Jack bech from TCU

Round 1 TE or Edge/LB. Either Warren or Jalon Walker.
Round 2 LB or RB
Round 3 QB or RB
Round 3 CB or RB

Saints have aging playmakers and playmakers that can’t stay on the field. If we were all honest, how many games do we see this year with Kamara, Olave & Cooks ALL active? My bet would be 5 games or fewer. And that’s not a GREAT cast of playmakers by any stretch.

I think it’s a fairly thin pass catcher class and an elite RB class. 1.09 I think I’d be most excited with McMillan or Warren. Think TeTe is a Top 5 player in the class and Warren can change an offense.

As long as there’s not a heavy CB run in Round 1, pick 40 seems prime for some great value with Shavon Revel Jr, Trey Amos, Maxwell Hairston, and Darien Porter ALL being right that fringe top 25-40 range.

3rd round seems ideal for the best available OG & best available RB. I know that’s too position-specific and it should be based on best available, so I’m not suggesting to think that way - but usually you find a ton more value at those two positions in the 3rd round. I would bet 50% of the top half of the NFL OGs were taken between pick 75 and 125.

This RB group is 8-10 deep in quality NFL RBs, in my opinion. I think at 71/93, we will be surprised at the names still available, unless a wild 8 RBs are taken in the top 90 picks - which I don’t see happening. Take one of those names that really shouldn’t be there.

I’ll do my ideal first 4, since once you get outside the top 100 it’s mostly a crap-shoot:

1.09 Tetairoa McMillan/Tyler Warren
2.40 Shavon Revel Jr/Trey Amos
3.71 Jackson Slater/Tate Ratledge
3.93 Quinshon Judkins/Bhayshul Tuten

There is no way Hampton is available in the third round. He may end up being drafted at the end of the first. He's the consensus number 2 back in the draft.

He might not be there when we pick at 40

I also doubt Johnson falls past the top 5.

I don’t think anyone is going to be able to say any RB is not getting to 71+ outside of Jeanty. A lot of teams may have Hampton RB2, some likely don’t have him RB2.

How many RBs go top 90?

When you look @

Ashton Jeanty
TreVeyon Henderson
Omarion Hampton
Kaleb Johnson
Bhayshul Tuten
Quinshon Judkins
Cam Skattebo
Dylan Sampson

All of those guys could go Top 90 and we’d think it was solid.. But will 8 RBs go in the Top 90?

It’s just an incredible class of RBs, which I hope the Saints take advantage of - like they did in the 2017 draft that ended up being the best RB class ever. This class is going to be close IMO.

The Saints have needs at every position. Aging stars and lack of depth is a serious concern across the roster.

That makes this draft easy for me.

Top 4 picks inside the Top 100:
BPA
BPA
BPA
BPA

I want 4 foundational players who all make a serious contribution in 2024.

Things I think will happen this year.

There will be a big run on DL/DE in the first half of round 1. There will be a big run on CB and WR late round 1 early in round 2. And I am not sure there will be any starting quality OL left by round 3 as I think 5 or 6 will go in round 1 and maybe 8 in round 2. Taking the right position in the right spot may be very important this year.
