How do you handle this guy coming at you with his hand behind his back? This has to be a nightmare situation for any cop.

with your gas pedal?

edit
An Oregon man opened fire on a state trooper during a traffic stop. He was later found dead in his car.

I feel for the cop on that one. Personally as soon as the guy put his hands behind his back I'd have put my hand on my gun. He doesn't respond to my demands of getting back in the car I pull my gun and come to a 45. He moves that hand in my direction he gets shot center mass as many times as it takes for him to stop becoming a threat.

I would image that is easier said than done if/when you find yourself in that situation. Sad is the only word that comes to mind, that someone was willing to lose their life to try to take another's. Now there is going to be many people involved that are left to grieve. I can't image what drove that man to make that decision. What a scary situation for the cop to find himself in. I could never do that job.

Yes the bad guy was found a short time later deceased, He had been struck in the chest by a shot fired by the officer. Yes! there was a child in the car with the bad buy and the child was not physically harmed in this incident.

i'm assuming it was just one officer, yes?
officer standing behind the door , shots start he gets behind the car and goes to other side (that's why the shooter goes to that side)
the shooter looks like he ducks, but is that when he's hit?
is he high or is adrenalin enough to keep you standing and retreating even after you got hit?

I believe the officer is carrying a 9mm. That's typical of the power of a 9mm. No a.. Behind it so the bad guy can continue to fight.

Yes one officer and he had exited the car. The piece of work was trying to draw him into what's referred to as the dead zone. That's the space between both cars. However he didn't break cover so th bad guy moved into that area . That's why he took one to the chest.
