In your OPINION what is going to be the biggest reason for the SAINTS returning to the PLAYOFFS (5 Viewers)

I think as long as we stay healthy on both sides of the ball the biggest reason to go back in playoffs will be both offense and defense. I think with the new additions on defense we will be able to hold teams to around 21ppg and j think our new pieces on offense will allow us to be better efficient in the red zone thus scoring more points.

This is our best team on paper since 2011.

If they put the work in, come together, and stay reasonably healthy, it will be our best team ever. Those are not huge obstacles.

A fast start and not to loose the first four games of the season. Building off of four wins instead of building off of four losses could do wonders for our final record.

This was the answer I was going to give. This team needs a hot start...if they don't, they're done. The Saints have only had one winning season after starting the season with a loss, and it was the most talented team in team history losing a nail bitter in Green Bay.

But that is contingent on a ton of stuff working out. There are roster battles at the majority of positions on our defense...and I think our passing game will step back. I think that our depth should be better...but I'm not ready to say that the defense is going to take a big step forward without seeing it with my own two eyes.

I don't think the defense was that far away last year but after the injuries there were weaknesses that were exploited. With fewer injuries and better depth, I believe the defense will be good or else we'll be looking for new coaches.

The offense should be able to spread the ball out more this year. If Fleener can show the slightest improvement in his game and make safeties worry about the seam, the running game should return to among the top in the NFL.

This team has to put the work in, but we're in good position to exploit a weak NFC.

Between the super bowl collapse and the new "embrace the suck" motto, I have all the ammunition I'll ever need. :smilielol:

Those two things right there. That should shut them up with a quickness.

On topic though I think a coaching staff that has injected new ideas, personnel and enthusiasm will have a trickle down effect on the talent in the locker room with both the new players and the old.

Health. We've got to stay healthy. If that happens, everything else will work out.

I agree with you on the Defense. I am at a show me point with the defense as well. As far as the passing offense I am hoping between what we have added plus a possible better rushing attack it will mitigate the loss of Cooks. perhaps our play action will become deadly this year. It is a lot of ifs and perhaps I know and a lot hinges on the hands of Ginn and Fleener. I guess we will see.

Start off good by winning preseason games to get the confidence up. Next is start out strong. But in general, good overall team's defense, more emphasis on the running game, and better play calling. Yes, the coaching staff needs to do a better job.

Staying consistent on offense with a balance attack.

Defense generating turnovers

Kicker being more automatic through the uprights.
