I think Johnson sitting out may just mean our gameplan has our TEs blocking more than downfield catching.
Vannet, Trautman, and Griffin if I got it right. All 3 are mainly blocking TEs.

Johnson might have only played this year so far as a placeholder for Vannet. He hasn't done much in a while.

I'm hoping Vannet proves to be a weapon for us on offense. He's had some success in the league as a pass catcher.
He has some very Josh Hill-like numbers.

I think it's simpler than that.

1 catch in 3 games will get you deactivated.

Our run blocking specialists at TE can manage that feeble production.

We don’t have a TE that can catch since Johnson is inactive. Trautman should’ve been the healthy scratch.
