What better situation for Payton than to have dual options at QB that require different preparation by the opposition?

I think our QB situation will get a lot more interesting in the weeks ahead if Hill continues to improve and show consistency as a starter.

Going into the season, it was anticipated that Hill would see more time under center. It didn’t look like that was going to happen until Brees was injured. Now that Hill has been able to have extended time as a starter, Payton’s trick bag has grown exponentially.

Not really. Drew was performing at a much much much much higher level than Hill. When he’s ready he’s the QB. If he wants to come back next year, he’s the QB.

While I think this has been great for Hill and has helped Payton sharpen his tool, the QB situation hasn’t really changed in the slightest.

Taysom makes exciting plays and he can score for us, but his consistency and mistakes at crunch time make me very nervous. He was so lucky he didn't lose that game for us yesterday. Those 2 fumbles were back breaking and his inability to get first downs really hurt us. So thankful that the defense stepped up.

Yes, I’m happy for Taysom but he has a long way to go. But, he’s much better than the handful of times I saw him at BYU and night and day better than he has looked in preseason. So, there’s hope. However, we were fortunate to get ATLANTA in two of his first three starts haha

I think that when Drew is the starter, he will continue taking most of the snaps.

However, I can see a different way to use Taysom. Instead of using him on one snap, he may command a drive a half, if the game is moving that way.

Even during the playoffs, on a game designed for mostly running, Drew's command of the of the offense and his short pass game is very effective.

This is nothing against Taysom, I am very optimistic of him and his future with the saints.

Taysom isn't taking anything away from brees this year. He's done a good job the past few games but brees is way better. Taysom is good as a gadget qb right now when you have a healthy (hopefully) hof qb.

I think that you make sure Drew is healthy, and you immediately put Taysom back to doing Taysom things. He is too big of weapon IMO to have sitting on the sidelines, and if you're going to pass the ball, it's Drew's job to do that. It'll go back to seeing him at his usual Joker position, with him taking QB snaps on short yardage situations.

If you could define a year for Drew to be on fire down the stretch, it's going to be this one.

I edited my original post to better express my opinion. I am not trying to say that Hill should be the starter over Brees. He is a dual threat however and I believe that Hill has shown enough to allow Payton to more confidently create offensive game plans that take more advantage of his skill set and in turn, make it a lot more difficult for opposing teams to prepare.

I believe opposing teams have to prepare for it regardless of how much it is used. We'll see TH on short yardage, amongst the other roles we saw him in pre ribs. He's a playmaker, Drew being back isn't going to keep him off the field.

Definitely. And the crazy thing is that he can also run the same offense that Drew runs. So the defense can’t key in on a Taysom offense or a Drew offense when he’s in the game. They have no clue what plays are in the game plan.

That’s quite a weapon.

Agree with this.

I noticed the ball was getting thrown more down the field yesterday instead of a dump off pass or the screen to Kamara. Taysom does open up the field of play and that is starting to back defenses more off the line of scrimmage. His ability to protect the ball at times can be nerve racking though.

Inability to get first downs? Did we watch the same game? The only play he hurt us on was the fumble. Cook and Lutz hurt us yesterday.

ATL was 4-2 since Raheem took over head coach duties making only one of their losses to the Saints. Now they’re 4-3, two losses by the Saints. They aren’t push overs anymore.

We can spin it however we want, they’re awful.
