Interesting Stat Line (1 Viewer)

My honest opinion is that we would have been way better off rolling with Dalton or Winston and using that money to hire 2-3 legit offensive linemen.

No offense to Carr. He is as good as those other guys, but I am not sure he is actually better than either.
My only case against this approach is that the Saints have a lot of high investment in the starting 5 on the OL. Four first-round picks at T & G, and they traded up to get McCoy in the second round. The glut was depth - lots of late-round and UDFA guys, a couple free agents, tackles projected as guards, swing linemen, who’d be OL6, etc. was daunting to figure out, but Penning-Peat-McCoy-Ruiz-Ramczyk felt like solid gold coming into this season. Because of how hard it is to find quality linemen, teams tend to not let good OL get away if they don’t have to - remember they invested in Nick Easton to replace Max Unger, but McCoy won the job and Easton is out of the league now. Who were some top free agent OL you’d had in mind?

Don't know. I don't keep up with the NFL outside of the Saints. But with 40 million a season to spend certainly a couple of good players would be available. that was the point.

At 20M the Bucs, Titans, or Giants sign him. Heck JimmyG is getting 1yr 33M. That’s not a realistic price and how you get JW, Dalton, or those other teams leftovers.

Carr is a better option than Mayfield, Jones, or Tannehill.
I don't think they wouldve...Tampa is waiting on Trask to show, Tennessee isn't going to dump Tannehill for Tannehill, and the Giants had Jones...if we would've stood pat, Carrs contract expectations would've waned.

Think about it this way, there was a time when a good number of folks wanted to trade for Carr out of FOMO....I (EYE) told yall to chill out, no one else is going to trade for him and the Raiders were going to cut him outright....and lo and behold.

All we had to do was wait it out, but we were so GD giddy to be mediocre we ran up to the front gave him more than he should've gotten amd he smiled and ran that arse to Chipotle on N Causeway in Covington as fast as humanly possible.

Carr should've been on a prove it deal. We bid against ourselves again
No way Carr was going to sign a “prove it” deal with any team. With even competent coaching the team is 5- and no one is even talking carr’s contract. I’d rather see the coaching staff on a “prove it” deal so they can be chucked out easier.

Couldn't the same be applicable to the last 2 QBs we had that were on prove it deals that weren't $150M? I Feel like a broken record here but this is an improved roster offensively over last year yet the results are worse...is that drop off on PC who was here last year or the QB who was supposed to be an upgrade?

Everybody else in his situation gets dropped in the prove it category. Dude got benched at his last stop...full stop.

Now he's a $150M problem that the next staff is going to have to deal with whether they wanted to or not.

I’m looking now, and the biggest free agent names at tackle were all right tackles. I would maintain that the Saints are not worse than solid at RT, Ramczyk is occasionally spectacular even.

There were some names to go after at guard. Nate Davis, Ben Powers, Connor McGovern… but I’m not sure how easy it is to move off of Peat’s contract. Ruiz is still on his rookie deal.

Factoring in dropped (very catchable) passes would make the stat line even more interesting.

I don't remember the Saints ever dropping so many passes as they did with Dalton... and Siemian FTM. Carr has been a lot luckier, having only a handful dropped. (knock wood!)

I’d have to totally agree with this… I’m not sure why we thought he was
