Is Coach Sean McVay the NEW Sean Payton? or Passing of the Guard? (1 Viewer)

I know everyone in the media wants this to be the case but I’m not seeing it yet. I may be biased but I think Payton is the best play caller by a good margin.

Payton is the NEW Payton this year. He has been more aggressive and also playing with a new toy (#7). Just love what the players are doing with his gameplan.

McVey is nowhere near the offensive mind, although I think he's a great overall HC paired with Wade.

The Rams work out of a single set almost exclusively and their route concepts are dead simple. The reason that offense works is 1) Gurley is unstoppable and 2) they have great WRs who pressure you deep.

Payton out-schemes you to death. The Rams just out talent you and that's gonna end after they have to pay Goff $30m a year.

This was going to be my exact answer... so:

+1

Having seen the offenses of Sid Gilman, Air Coryell and "the greatest show on turf" Sean Payton is the most strategic offensive mind in NFL history. Since 2006 this team has been the league's gold standard offense. None of the above mentioned offenses were successful beyond a few years.

To have this success over a dozen years is remarkable. I'm willing to bet he plucked Hill from Green Bay's practice squad with the visions of what we're just starting to see from him. That's not even considering the multiple foramtions he runs.

McVay is Sherman to Payton's Mr. Peabody!
