I loved the 2009 defense for being aggressive, generating turnovers, and helping us win the Super Bowl. So far, from a schematic point, it appears that he's trying to recreate the same defense. Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just me?

Also, all I've noticed is that he started the year in the same way he's always done and it's also completely different from 2009 because we actually started off on fire in every way that year and kept it up for the most part. He always wants to be too complicated and scale it back in-season and then they get really good.

Well to be honest, Greer never played a full season for us.

Pretty sure he played a full season in 2016. Besides... Would rather rather have a partial season with him then a full season with some of the other backs we've used

Uhh no. For you to do that it would require 1 leaving your CBs on a island in press coverage . With a FS center fielder with range instinct and hands of a God.
A punishing SS whose used in the box and put at the line of scrimmage , good instincts

Crazy thing is we have the players that fit these roles it’s simply DA isn’t putting them in the position to succeed

We have the CBs but DA wants to play them 5-10 yards off

We have the FS but he can’t tackle and isn’t put in the center field often

M.Jenkins is asked to cover 6’7 players with no help , and he isn’t allowed to jam them at the line I’m guessing not is any other player

Don’t ever compare DA to Gregg Williams not that Gregg was perfect but he trusted his players to get the job done.

Both defenses work but in different ways. 2009 unit gave up scads of yards, but was stiff as a board in the red zone, plus generated turnovers thanks in part to the offense creating large leads that made opposing units desperate.

That's a very hard combination to recreate. It's the only unit to have a defense ranked outside the top 20 in total defense (yards) win a Super Bowl. By far and away the most successful SB recipe ingredient is to have a very good defense in yardage terms. The average SB winner is ranked 6th in that category. Plenty of SB losers had top ranked offenses but not the complementary defense.

They are in the positions to succeed all the time, right up until they commit pass interference or blow their assignments.

We have a bunch of selfish overpaid showboaters back there, that's how I see it. Also Lattimore appears to be a one-season wonder. He's not a true "lock down" corner anymore and that's NOT on DA.

In 2009 we had a free safety with magnetic hands, they just seemed to attract the ball.

In 2020 we have a free safety like that too. But it's like when you turn the magnet around (north to north) so it pushes the ball away.

2013 was Jabari's last season with the team. He did play a full season in 2011 though.

Thanks. I thought there was one year where he played a full season and several other seasons he played most of the season I believe.
