Ivory or Ingram? (2 Viewers)

It doesn't matter that much. Whoever it is will get a fraction of the snaps compared to Sproles and PT unless we are in a blowout in the 4th quarter. That's been the pattern the last month. You don't beat the Falcons by running at them.

Ehhh, that's how the Texans beat them...

Ivory 4.1 average
Ingram 3.9 average

Since there only 0.2 difference, which back is better pass blocking and catching the ball will play.

We don't have the Texans defense. Matt Ryan was picked off twice and they held the Falcons to 10 points. We haven't had two INT's in any game this year and we've held zero teams to 10 points or less, no matter how bad they've been.

Do you think we can beat Atlanta by scoring 17 points?

I watched that entire game and Yates made some huge throws, two to Johnson, that kept them alive in that game.

We will have to score to beat them.

they are about the same

Ivory hasn't caught a pass all year, was targeted once and ended up getting covered up by a defensive tackle with the ball almost being intercepted. How does that make Ivory and Ingram the same in the passing game? Brees doesn't even consider Ivory a threat in the passing game with the lack of targets? Payton doesn't even bother running Ivory on routes out the back field? Jed Collins is more of a receiving threat in the passing game than Chris Ivory? How does that put Ivory and Ingram in the same class in the passing game?

I remember Ivory having a pretty awesome reception and run during the preseason of his rookie season. I've been dying to see more opportunities for him out in space ever since.

I have no clue why we don't work him into the passing game more as teams fully expect him to run when he's in. I realize he's awesome for play-action currently. I guess the coaches feel he's not ready from what they see in practice.

CI's played pretty well the last 2 weeks, so it appears he's healed from his injury. But the ATL defense is in the top 5 against the run, and held us in check in the first meeting ( and they did a good job on D Sproles as well). We could use a big game from him Monday Night! Rumble, young man, Rumble!!!

:9:

I don't know if they held us in check so much as we just didn't try to run (16 att vs 43 passes) to exploit the secondary weaknesses.

I'll take Ivory over Ingram any day. Pierre is still numero uno in my book though.

What's great about this situation is that we can almost guarantee that one of our backs will be a little dinged every week this time of year. I almost gaurentee that ivory will hurt something if we lean on him the next two weeks. Ingram walks in healthy for the playoff run and it's a no brainier. As long as its not Sproles that gets dinged, we are in great shape and even then PT can take some of his load. We are loaded.

ATL is in the top 5 against the run. Their LBs are very good. Zack Strief said that they were putting 8 men in the box as well. so they were able to neutralize the run and with 8 up they were able to neutralize Sproles on the swing pass. But that made for lotsa space for the WRs to roam.

I still think CI will get some chances to run at em. I like his knack of making that lil bounce to the outside when the hole is not there. IF he can get past the front 8, he could get a big run!

Because Ivory has either been very low on the depth chart of injured. You can bet he is getting intense remedial practice to catch him up the passing game. He has been out in the pass pattern several times, Drew threw to someone else. Sooner or later,,,I'm guessing tonight, Ivory will get one in space and LOOK OUT! :hihi: Of course that depends on the Falcons defense, they really have a way of smothering our screen passes.

Slowly, but surely......

There was a time when CI was in the game, it was a run play for him 99% of the time. Now, they've gone with a lil more playaction when he's in, and he's stayed in to block or gone out a few times in a pattern. But like you said, Drew hasn't gone to him....yet, and the Falcons are pretty good against the screen.

So how about a play with BOTH Sproles and CI in the game. Like Reggie, when Sproles goes to the outside, the D will follow. If they're too aggressive in pursuit, that'll open up things for CI on a run OR a screen pass going the other way.

Just a thought.
