Jerry Jones & Mike McCarthy are open to moving forward together. McCarthy’s contract expires on Jan. 14th [mod edit] (2 Viewers)

Kind of expected, he handled Jason Garrett the same way and then signed him later. Also, if I recall, Jerry said during the off-season last year that he expects McCarthy to be the cowboys coach until he croacks, for lack of better words.

What an odd marriage.

It’s like two parents that know they shouldn’t be together anymore but want to tough it out for a few more years for the kids. lol

Jerry has been so gun shy about letting coaches go since Payton went to NOLA.

Agreed.

Also, the older I get, the more “zen” I become regarding just how much luck plays into these things.

McCarthy truly is a REALLY good football coach and a winner; that team just has a lot of misfortune go its way at the worst times, with very few lucky breaks that a lot of other teams seem to get.

Expected.

For insight into Jerry Jones, I'd recommend watching Landman Episode 9 or watch his part on YouTube. Like him or not, it's pretty interesting.

This is good news for us. First because it means Dallas won't enter the HC search and second because I think Loomis would be drawn to McCarthy as a proven coach that he knows. As much as so many NFL fans hate Dallas, it's still a plum job for many with a historic franchise.

I don't think McCarty is a bad coach. In fact, he's a good coach, but I don't think he's what we need and I think he's on the downside of his career.

The Dallas Cowboys are considered a big market team. They have an unlimited budget when it comes to team amenities and one of the top stadiums in the country. It would probably be considered as one of the top 10 places to coach in the NFL despite Jerry Jones. McCarthy is in a good place if the owner wants him to stay.

I’ve heard the rumor that Jerry wants Sarkisian bad and that’s why no deal with McCarthy yet.
