Jets taking calls for WR Davante Adams……….. Adams expected to be released if no trade (20 Viewers)

He didn’t seem thst good, and never seemed to recoup chemistry with Rogers imo. I like how Glenn is building his team by subtraction

And then wait some more and let someone else sign him.
I would 100% sign him and I know that Carr will push for us to sign him.

However I tell Carr I will sign him, but Derek needs to take a paycut that covers that signing. This actually could be a good negotiating tool to get Carr to take a paycut, tell him cut his salary down by 10 million and we will use that money to try to get Adams here. Wins both ways, we get an upgrade for a year at WR and get Carr to take a paycut.

Maybe this Davante news is part of why no specific numbers on a Carr restructure have been finalized? Has Carr given the Saints recent indications that he'd be flexible with his salary if it meant we could land Davante? He can still play and the Saints need playmakers. A player like Davante being a true #1 X allows everyone else to fall into their position fit.

Adams is the wrong player at the wrong time for this team. He's 32 years-old, expensive, and a declining player. We need to build for the long term with young, ascending players.

If Adams gets released, I'd be okay with the Saints offering Adams a 1 year at 25% above league minimum or less. Don't know if Adams would accept the offer, but I'd be okay with the Saints making it.

I agree, but I think you’re missing the point here.

Carr will not take a paycut unless MAYBE you can work a deal for Adams. It would accomplish two things which is get Carr to take a paycut, and get an X receiver to take pressure off Olave. I’m not saying sign Adams for multiple years, do a 1 year 10 million or whatever Carr is willing to give up from his salary for him. If DC is not willing to give up any salary, then he doesn’t get Adams, simple as that.

Maybe. But if Carr is only taking a pay cut to sign Adams then it's a zero sum game. All we get is the money to sign an old player in decline. What we need is money to fix the OL, build depth, and build the defense. A deal like that doesn't really do much for the team because it only gets you money to sign Adams who doesn't appear to be close to the player he was. Is he better than our third string guys? Sure, but IMO we need to get younger, cheaper, and start developing young WR talent, not signing older players looking for their last paychecks.

If Adams is will to play for near vet minimum, fine, but otherwise I just don't see the point and it blocks us from developing younger players. But I don't see Adams taking a deal close to that.

As far as Carr, he just needs to take a pay cut so we can build the rest of the team and there should be no guarantees what we do with the money. He either wants to be on a winning team or he doesn't. And it's really hard to have a winning team when you have a mediocre QB making $40 million this year.

How about we stop prodding and coddling Derek Carr? Oh, Derek, you can have your cuddly pet friend receiver if you'll just lower your salary. That's absurd if they're going to restructure him and pay more on the back end, when Derek and DaVante are retired and golfing. (Yes, Derek Carr would have his money before that, but the Saints' wouldn't clear their dead cap by then).

A firm no to the old and now journeyman Adams.

If Adams' agent seriously pitched that to him, he'd be less one client immediately. Agent gets paid too.
