I thought the Ryan slide was really, really late. Not saying it was unavoidable for Dunbar to have hit him, but it would have been difficult for him to recognize it.

There's that play action, except it ends not with a pass but a slide. Dunbar, the former Boston College star, hits Ryan after a short run from the quarterback and is slapped with a late-hit penalty, giving Atlanta first-and-goal.

I'd say "no easy 15 yards" would be a better strategy.

To be fair to Dunbar though it was really a cheap penalty. Young even said it after the game, Ryan slid late and Dunbar had already launched himself at him, if anything Ryan did himself a favor because otherwise he was being hit in the knees instead of the pads and helmet.

I think that, and the penalty one Torrence for his legal block on Weems who was still in bounds were the two worst calls last night and that's saying something. The roughing the passer on Will Smith deserves a "dishonorable mention" as well, he didn't touch anything but Ryan's shoulder pad.

Dunbar played like the player he should have been playing like since he was a Saint. Good Luck Jo-Lunn for the rest of the season.
