John Sykes dead at age 65 (1 Viewer)

I played the hell out of that first Tygers of Pan Tang album with him. It made me follow his journey afterward. Besides being an incredible songwriter and guitarist, his sense of melody was elite. RIP to an absolute genius.

Too young but, let's face it, I'm almost surprised when any rocker makes it past 60.

His work in Blue Murder was exceptional as well. Great band and had some good albums. As far as Whitesnake, now, no one ever knows what was happening behind the scenes, normal fans aren't really privy to all that. But after writing alot for the S/T album of Whitesnake, David Coverdale kicked him out of the band before they even started touring.

I think the last time I saw him on TV was when he and Mike Portnoy (pre Winery Dogs) showed up on That Metal Show and announced they were forming a new band, but it never came to be.
