Ok,trying not 2 think about this being the last time for a month, and practice today was overall pretty tame, with that said, here we go

Kick return drill, ball coming from machine, not actually kicked
They had Hardy, the WR from citadel, sproles, Morgan, L.Scot, getting most of the work. Parks slipped a little once, quickly recovered balance & was fast! Morgan, scott,& parks looked the best to me. Parks actually looked considerably faster than sproles, but sproles may not have turned jets all the way on for this drill. A.Simmons (T) had lots of energy and hustle as a gunner. Impressive quickness at 6'7 310!

DB LB paired up blocking drill
Hard to tell without pads
They had Collins & Higgins paired,AA & Toon paired, only offensive players involved. AA held his own against Toon

Offense with no defense
Lined up like this bushrod,Grubbs,de la puente, brown, couldn't see last one
Used Roby,Graham and Thomas a good bit as receiver,TE
The still unknown offensive #20 carried the ball several times, looked average,of course,no defense, walk through, just interesting to me who lined up Oline. Couldn't tell if jones was on that one spot I couldn't see.

Other side of field simultaneously, Sean and Luke throwing to WR
Nice catches by tanner, all looked good,Graham missed one.crowd went from yay to awwww quickly and in unison.

7 on 7
Looked like bushrod,Grubbs,Brian,Evans,Brown
wondering if this is the same line up they had earlier on other side of field
Smith and Jordan on ends, bunkley,Lofton,& Hawthorne LB JPatrick at safety most of the reps
Smith getting his hands up a lot,not as much pressure from LB but they were all 3 hustling, just not really to QB more zone coverage instead of blitzing which they did a lot of yesterday.
Roman covered sproles well, but easy catch for sproles
Greer knocked one away from AA
Lofton calling defensive signals, leading team, clapping, yelling out those words that mean nothing to me,but gets everyone moving, reminded me a whole lot of vilma in his decisive decisions and reading offense, taking charge, couldn't tell he's new to this team!
Hawthorne nearly knocked ball away from toon, heck of an effort both sides there!
Nice stretch catch by Pierre
Henderson caught nice one over PRob
Sean all day,no pressure, just threw it away a couple times, some low balls from him, chase is clearly well ahead of him in this race,if there is a race.

WR drill while covered by DB
Nice coverage here, don't think they were suppose to really go after ball, maybe more route practice for WRs
Beyah has nice speed and balance,Moore looked to me the best here

defense in another area practicing catching,I wanted to cheer, just because they were practicing this, Ezra Butler not only caught everything, but once almost caught his and ball that someone else missed.

WRs,TEs,RBs, Big group, walks over in front of where I was sitting, crowd around me goes wild, they just walked over, guess they were happy to see them, lance Moore holds out his arms like all the applause was for him, hilarious!
Catching balls in endzone no coverage,5 balls to end zone, same time,no drops that i saw except Chris Taylor, one drop, easy one. Nocircus catches, pretty easy throws right between numbers,no secondary. Kind of boring.

7on7
Lofton covering Graham, very well, ball high,Graham misses. This is I think 3 times that I've seen Lofton actually cover Graham, even if he catches it,Lofton is giving him a challenge. This is a difference I have seen,or an improvement in three days.I don't think Graham is loosing anything, which says Lofton is learning how to cover him.first day of camp, remember it was high school freshmen with Jerry Rice. I do see big improvement when Lofton covers Graham.
Sproles fools butler and shanlee makes nice catch
Roman made a couple good plays on the ball, knocking it away
Still not seeing pressure on QB

ST
Hartley kicking, everyone lined both sides of ball, just like in real FG attempt
Lots of hands up to deflect,Hartley perfect, longest one maybe 40, but went way, way, past gold post, plenty of distance, split through middle every time

More kick returns Cadet, sproles,l.Scott,Morgan, hardy,to me,cadet was fastest!
Didn't see parks this time,he looked good in this drill earlier, wanted to see if he had consistency an hour later, but didn't see him.

7on7
Moore nice snag covered by Greer
Lofton knocks ball away from WR couldn't see number, think it was hardy or AA
Nice catches by tanner and toon
Sean throwing it away again
Jordan tips ball at line
Chris Givens nice catch, covered by E.Mack next play, same match up,this time Mack won't let go and wrestles him down.not aggressively, but just determined he wasn't going anywhere
KHall nice move on chamberlain
Bushrod and w.smith seem about even match up,again,no pads
Nice scramble to endzone from chase

Overall I saw offense having better day,but saw little if any pressure on QB
Much less intense, slower tempo, but nice practice. Only Hartley came to sign
then everyone screams for Graham,so he comes over, then m.Lewis, everyone else ran inside as soon as horn blew, guess they're excited about the petting
zoo.

Until July then...

Great observations.I thought everyone was lookin good today and putting in a good effort.

Thank you for the report! I am really getting excited to see the new defense this season it's the one thing that if they can generate some stops and turnovers even one more a game we will be exactly where we were last year atop the division playing for another Lombardi.

As Gomer Pyle says: "Thanky, thanky, thanky!!!" :montrer:

Lofton sounds like the real deal (with the Saints)... directing traffic & pass coverage.

Also glad to her the emphasis on the DEFENSE catching-the-ball!
:gosaints:

I was there also. I thought the pressure on the QB was pretty good. There was several plays where if it had been live, Chase would have looking out his earhole. Martez Wilson had a killshot on him, but of coarse there was no contact.

I did notice Wilson getting through the line,I see that in my notes. I guess I was comparing too much to the strong pressure yesterday. Excellent point. I shouldn't have said not much pressure on QB instead should have said less pressure on QB than yesterday. Thanks for pointing that out. It's so hard to see everything too! Need a team out there,or somehow get on that cherry picker they have.lol

I know it's a minor detail but they aren't in Training Camp, it is just OTAs (no contact).

Graham will make Lofton a better player!:9:

That's a great way of saying that! It is spot on! very good insight.

And,guess in should have called the thread mini camp, not training camp,my mistake. There is a difference.

I just edited the title. I looked it all day and didn't notice. :covri: I guess my brain was on "did Drew sign yet?!?" :D
