I always thought of Metcalf’s strengths being big and strong….Anquan Boldin type WR.
His 100 time 😳😳😳😳

I’m sure you searched, but the 40 yard dash is the comparative I’d love to see amongst all these great runners. A QB in most instances, has about 3 to 5 seconds to release his throw, so how far can a runner (receiver) get down the field in that amount of time? ‘Generally’ speaking that’s about 40 yards. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot of differences between these speed demons (40 yards vs 60 meters vs 100 meters vs 440, etc).

Regardless of my comments, great information with interesting comparisons.

If Shaheed is on a go route and Carr hasn’t launched the ball within 2.5 seconds, no way the pass is gonna be deep enough unless Shaheed slows down.

Our QB has 2.5 at most before the rush gets to him, unless he rolls out to extend the play.

He's plenty fast but that's really not what makes him effective.....it's elite quickness and change of direction, cutting on a dime.....would much rather see the quickness numbers 10-20 splits and such....

40 times are the most overrated measurable in history IMO

Plus Shaheed has outstanding hands!

Agreed, he seems to have the little intangibles also, although his route tree is fairly simple at this point, his route running is very good....if he stays healthy he will be a huge contributor as we are already seeing this season....

The thing about Shaheed is that he's not only fast, he knows how to use his speed. A lot of guys can run really fast in a straight line but football isn't played in a straight line most of the time. Rashid is able to maintain his speed in his routes. Dude is deadly and he's just getting started.

Yep.

Also to add to this, there is speed, but there is also “how fast are you with football gear on and with players on the field impeding you” speed. Not everyone carries their playing equipment the same nor plays the same when facing defenders.

Shaheed has a sudden-ness to his speed, incredible burst in and out of breaks. So while his long speed may not be as good as some of the players illustrated above, his catlike quickness makes his speed just as effective if not more effective for the standard 4 to 7 second NFL play.
