Keeping Kubiak (Merged) (1 Viewer)

So, this has been on my mind since about midway through the 2nd Quarter yesterday....

This is essentially the same offensive personnel from last year that was completely inconsistent and even overly inept at times last year. Nothing seemd to work consistently last year on offense... and all we really added was a rookie OT to that group.

All of a sudden... we are 40 points in a box on offense and we look like a damn avalanche pouring down a mountain...

Assuming that this will not be 100% sustainable for 15 more games, but also assuming this is no fluke... and we maintain a really good offense and win games along the way... The only logical reason for this crazy metamorphosis.... Is the addition of Klint Kubiak as OC... Nothing else... Just that addition.

While this is great for us this year... If this continues... (And I'm already hearing rumblings of this everywhere).... We may be a victim of his success by the end of this season... and Lose him to a HC starved team looking for young stud OC to make their HC.

We must find a way not to let this man out of the building after one season, and get poached because of the success he brings to the team...

It's also a double edge sword... Because my first thought is just make him our HC... Problem there, DA will also get credit for a great season... and the turnaround... and hiring Kubiak.... So (rightfully) they can't replace DA with Kubiak to keep him.

I know this is looking way ahead... but man... I just have this thorn in my brain that keeps saying... we are going to lose him after the season, and be right back where we were again in 2025.

Someone give a reason to believe that we won't lose Kubiak after this season... please.
I've probably been the most vocal negative critic of this regime. I wasn't impressed with any Kubiak did prior to coming here, but you simply can't argue with his results.

I agree completely that the only thing that's new is the OC.

Kamara looks like he did his rookie year. Shaheed looks like Tyreek Hill. The OL is mauling people.

It's freaking weird.

Carmichael really may be one of the worst OCs in Saints history, which is kind of also an indictment of Allen that it took him two years to move on.

But regardless, I hope Kubiak keeps this up and if he does leave they now have a formula for replacing him.

When we win another SB this yr, i’ll gladly take that if it means few more .500 yrs again.

I was just discussing this with a co-worker.
From my viewpoint, I see one big difference: we're being aggressive.
We're not taking what the defense gives us. We're taking it.

Conversely, LSU has changed OC's and offensive philosophy.
Much less aggressive style and I think it shows.
I think in the case of LSU it's simply the talent level is not the same.

Daniels is a human cheat code on offense. He could scramble for 8 yards every single play. They also had two first round WRs. Nussmeier is a fine QB but in today's game, having a guy who can run also changes everything.

No, I am eternally forward thinking and extremely positive in my own life... I do like to be ahead of the curve when it comes to potential issues out ahead... and I'm not being negative here... being realistic and proactive isn't being negative... I think it's a valid concern.
Worry is fear of the future. Guilt is fear of the past. Quit worrying

It would be a great problem to have if the Saints have the hottest OC in the NFL that gets mentioned for every open head coaching job.

Be thankful we aren't still wishing and hoping that Pete would retire mid-week.

Sure is... and I am.

The only way the Saints keep him if he gets a HC offer is to give him the HC position with the Saints. And if the Saints are successful this season, then the HC position will not be available.

There would be no other reason for Kubiak to turn down a HC opportunity.

On a positive note, when Allen took over as head coach, the offense we are seeing in the first two weeks is what he described wanting. I’m not giving him credit beyond that, and we also have to hope he’s learned from his experience with Carmichael, but it bodes well if he can remain true to his vision and can identify the right coaching personnel to fill inevitable vacancies. There will always be talented candidates and in the meantime, the Saints are finding early success and compiling a playbook that Allen can build on into the future.

This is the reason why I’ve said Visor dude has yet to get praise from me. Everyone wants me to eat crow after two games, but yet everyone is already panicking that KK will leave after one season. If our HC was turning a corner, then why be so fearful? Doesn’t make any sense. There are examples of HCs in this league, that continuously win, despite coordinator changes. Earn your stripes. It’s simple.

That's literally the question I am posing here.... and why I started the thread. I've stated several times... I don't know.... I am asking what the guys here think.... I've gotten some good answers already... and I said it's so early in his time here... that I'd have no idea who that guy might be... I've acknowledged all that... without ignoring the real potential that - should this offense continue to be a freight train because of KK - It's more likely than not - we will all be having to realistically ask this question... rather than it just being a forward-thinking thought ATM.

If you haven’t taken time to put together some of your own ideas and thoughts about potential coaches, is it really forward-thinking, though?

I hope you actually enjoyed the win. It was a great game!

Just trying to help you chill out. Klint Kubiak when asked about Dc4: “he’s one of the main reasons I chose to come here”. So it’s apparent he’s making decisions based off of winning odds. He won’t go anywhere unless it’s the right fit. And if it’s the right fit, he probably should go. But the league has shown that simply hiring a teams OC doesn’t equal immediate success. Carolina for ex.

I haven't put the time into researching what's next because of how new and unexpected the development is... that's pretty obvious. Having the discussion nearly every media head is having this morning or will have this week... is just me asking the question now - that's gonna get louder and more in our faces as the offense keeps rolling.

Not sure why you think - Me - a life long die hard Saints fan.... and dedicated poster here for over 20 years.... would not be happy and enjoying these wins... Odd question... but okay... that's cool.... we can leave that there. What you're doing... I can see it.

I agree completely that the only thing that's new is the OC.

Three of five OL starters are different from a season ago, and two of them weren’t on the roster.

Better coaching and improved line play, early on, are opening things up for everybody else.

It’s starting to look like Allen and Loomis are doing a good job, going back to the second half of last season, of rebuilding an offense that Payton left in bad shape.

I'm chill... I think it's a legit question/concern that's only going to get louder as the offensive success rolls on... I get you...
