Kellen Moore most likely to be Saints coach per Garafalo, Hire not finalized yet due to SB; Kellen Moore in driver seat per Jonathan Jones (30 Viewers)

I'm a little surprised about the lack of enthusiasm about Moore. I wanted a bright young offensive coach along, and Moore definitely fits.

You don't have to be a ra-ra guy to earn the respect of your team. You just have to treat them with respect (and win).

If it happens, I'm excited.
I'm Saints fan at the end of the day! We all have our preferences. I just want what's best for my team! Who Dat!

I gotta friend that swears our Defense is 2 players away from championship caliber......

He is a Commanders fan btw, but he loves our defense. Says this year was cause of Dennis aLLen and his ineptitude lingering.

Our DC needs to blitz more and focus on dline and lbers.
Your friend isn’t too far off imo. I’d say 3 players. FS, #1 edge, and coverage LB but yeah. Aaron Glenn pretty much ran the same D with 3rd stringers and blitzed more and look at their results. Their scoring D wasn’t great but they could get off the field on 3rd down and get turnovers better than we could it seemed.

That's why wanted Glenn...they were depleted via injuries as much as we were and fought their guts out.

Smh ....3 players is debatable...

We need a DT, LB, and Safety so yea I can see it.

If I had my way I'd roll Bresee to DE and have him drop 20# that agility and his pass rush talent would give RTs a fit.

I'm warming up to Mason Graham, but it's reported he won't be at 9. But he could be.

If it's not Moore, the Saints will make an announcement this week that it's Rizzi, Kafka, or Weaver, or they'll have more interviews. If you hear nothing, Moore is the HC. So in this case, silence is a good thing

It's Moore...
MM backed out because our FO wasn't pursuing him...

They would have announced the hire if it were Rizzi, Kafka, or Weaver.

I'm waiting for it to become official before I get excited

Nobody has much idea on the DC that would come with Moore. Some are speculating that it could be Brandon Staley since Moore worked under him with the Chargers and Staley is available. Or will be since he is not expected to go back to SF on Saleh's staff.

As far as the OC, most seem to think it would be Doug Nussmeier who has followed Moore to every place he goes.

As far as scouting, the scouts just gather info on all the players and then later before the draft the HC, Irleand, Loomis, and Mueller will stack the boards based on the new schemes and what the HC likes. At this point, all of the scouting is more or less done anyway. But, according to Underhill, we have most of the front office at the Senior Bowl at this point.
DC will be Moore's most important hire. Because he does not come off as a firey motivator he may need to look for a guy that does. Martindale seems to me to be that type more than Staley, even though Staley was LB coach when the Bears had the #1 D and was DC with the Rams when they had the #1 D

Unless they are still deliberating and haven't made a final choice.
No one drags out hiring a NFL Coach like this for no apparent reason...
Did you listen to Kafka's post interview. He knew he wasn't the choice.

It is Kellen Moore!
He would have made a public announcement if he didn't want the job!

Rizzi is the "all else fails" hire and we have to get a coach before the start of the new season. So much has to be in preparation for evaluations and to see where he needs improvement the most.

Had we just not hired Dennis aLLen we wouldn't even be in this mess.

It's only been 48 hours (2 days) since the Saints interviewed Moore who was their last interview. Loomis is always deliberate and patient, hence all the "what's taking him so long" complaints.

Loomis and the hiring committee taking a few days to deliberate over all of the candidates would not be "dragging" anything out and the reason they'd be doing it is to be extremely thorough to make sure they make a good hire.

Yes I did listen to Kafka's interview. You're hearing what you want to hear. There was nothing he said or did that indicated anything about where he stands with the job.

It is Kellen Moore!
Maybe, maybe not. Time will tell.

He may want the job, but the Saints may not have decided who they want just yet.

Notice the language reporters are using: "front runner," "driver's seat," "final decision not made yet" and all the other descriptions. None of them are as definitive as people are reading them to be.

Ever been in the passenger seat on the steep drop off side of a mountain road? That's the same kind of anxiety that a lot of fans seem to be experiencing. Not having any real information or control over the situation seems to have a lot of people white knuckling over who the Saints will or did hire.

The hiring committee doesn't have that anxiety, because they have all of the information and all of the control, so they don't feel pressured to have to rush to make or announce their decision.

I would be excited if we get Moore because I believe you win in the NFL by running the ball and stopping the run. He has the best running game in football right now. He’s young and innovative. I think it would be a good hire but what I think and a dollar wouldn’t get you a cup of coffee probably.
If you don't have a franchise QB you need a strong running game and a very good defense

Reporters are using that language because they have to. If they come out and say “Kellen Moore will be the Saints next head coach” then that could literally get us hit with penalties by the NFL.

Even if that were accurate, which it most likely isn't, there's still the fact that as of this moment, Kafka, Rizzi and Weaver have not withdrawn their names.

I don't buy for a second that the league would penalize a team for reporters saying sources indicate that Moore will be the hire. In the past, reporters have bragged about their inside sources telling them that Coach X will be the new coach. There is no evidence the league would penalize a team for anything other than a formal press announcement from the team.

There have been definitive reports in the past about how a coach would be announced as the new head coach once the coach was out of the playoffs. I don't recall any team ever being penalized for any of those reports. I searched for the specific policy about announcing hires and didn't find anything on it.

Moore may very well have been told he has the job. I'm not saying that's not the case. I'm simply saying that people are saying what is publicly known proves things they don't actually prove, if you consider everything that is publicly known.
