Klint Kubiak excited to work with Taysom Hill & Derek Carr; having an offensive identity featuring the run (Merged) (1 Viewer)

The only 2 I feel like could be traded is Latt or Kamara. Kamara ain't going anywhere and we would be stupid to give up Latt for a 3rd at best.

Every year I fall into the “We’re going to run the ball more” trap.
It’s accurate this time around since Kubiak’s a more run oriented OC/playcaller than Pete and CSP. Centralizing the run game has been the identity of Kubiak’s offenses in SF, Denver and Minnesota.

There was a faction of fans that thought Hill would not fit Kubiak’s system, but I maintained that Kubiak simply never had a player like Hill before.

I think he will mesh very well with this system, and will add a new wrinkle.

Between Hill and Shaheed, we may be able to pull off a Deebo-by-committee type thing.

I guess Carr is a good qb for a run first offense 🤷 🤔
Week 4 of last year I did a thread that showed how terrible we were on 3rd and 8 plus and the main thing I screamed was “Carr has to be supported by a run game”

If you put him in position where he’s the guy who you ask to make a play here and there vs being the guy who Carrie’s the offense he’ll look much better.

Pete didn’t figure it out till late in the season but early in the year he was forcing Carr to bail the offense out of too often and he got hit a lot because of it

Basis of his offensive philosophy

“We just want to be grounded and run the football. We want to have an identify of ‘We can run the football against 8-man fronts.’ That’s something we’re going to stress to guys early this offseason. Building our play actions, moving the pocket off of that, being a real good team on first and second down. We’re dialed in on that in Phase 1 and Phase 2.”

Run first is the best type of offense for Carr’s strengths. Win with or through the run game in a creative run scheme as Carr makes plays in between. It’ll always keep the defense honest and maintain Carr’s rhythm.
