KMSS is at it again! (1 Viewer)

So how serious of an HD antenna to I need to get if I live in North Shreveport, and I want to try and get some other Fox station than KMSS Fox 33 , that would be showing the Saints game ?

Getting a good antenna is the easy part. Problem is getting it high enough. We had an antenna to pickup the Monroe station in the late 70s early 80s that was mounted on a rotor about 40' up in the air that worked pretty good.

Point it in the general direction of the station then fine tune it by turning the antenna to optimize the signal. You can do the same thing by having someone turn the pole that the antenna is mounted on while you yell from inside. I am not sure if the good digital antenna are as directional as the old analog one we had.

Amazon is selling one with a 150 mile radius.

Just go there, search "outdoor HD antenna" and read the reviews from the other buyers to find one that you like.

Anyone have any experience with this ? Wondering just how practical this is. picking up a station some 90 to 100 miles away ? If it can work, I'll be all over this.

That's a pretty good distance. For one or two games a year you would be better off going to a sports bar.

A winegrad 8200 might get you a decent signal on a really clear day, but you are gonna spend $350 with a pole cabling and an amp.

Here's the email I sent KMSS-

So when our games conflicted week 1-you aired the Saints game saying you
would alternate this year. Week 3-you aired the Cowboys. Now it's the 3rd
conflict this season AND YOU ARE AIRING THE COWBOYS AGAIN!!!! How is that
fair?

For the past several years we could go on line and vote. You said the Saints
fans were getting fans from South La to vote and stuff the ballot box. If
that's so-why didn't the cowboy fans in Texas do that for the cowboy fans
here?

The Saints are by far the most popular team in North Louisiana (we won every
time you allowed us to vote), yet you continue to cater to Cowboy fans. That
team hasn't played over 500 in 15 years!!! They should be airing on the
History Channel! On the other hand, the Saints are 6-1, headed for the
playoffs, and are the #1 seed in the NFC!

I will never understand a Louisiana TV station supporting another State's
team. Please, please come up with a fair policy and quit finding ways to put
the cowboys on the air.

And here is their response-

We can certainly understand this confusion. We really are trying to be as fair as we can. At the beginning of the season we knew we had 5 conflicting weekends. We requested alternating the games beginning with the Saints. Fox sent us the schedule we currently have. And although this schedule has Cowboy games airing back to back on conflicting weekends, we still have the Saints playing three out of five. The final two games of the season are conflicting and Saints are scheduled to air both of those weekends.
Thank you for your questions and thank you for watching Fox 33.

Yep I get to watch Minnesota @ Dallas or Kansas City @ Buffalo. No Saints game on my tv. :cussing:

Welp time to try and find it streaming online... :jpshakehead:

What do you think is the ratio of Saints fans : Cowboys fans in NW LA?

Thanks for the reply - right now let's keep the estimates to just NW LA.

One side note as to why Dallas this week: Stations in Oklahoma will show Vikings games simply because of Adrian Peterson. So, to the (small) extent there are OU fans in the Shreveport broadcast area (no, mostly not in LA itself), this is an added draw for the station. (And yes, if they are applying that logic, then it should help the next time the Saints play the Vikings.)

KMSS just reported on their facebook page that they are showing the Saints this Sunday. They responded to some guy's inquiry.

Of course they were (not surprisingly) snooty about it: "You may not live in Texas, but we do cover a large portion of East Texas, Arkansas and a small portion of Oklahoma. However, Fox 33 has made the decision to air the Saints game this weekend."

Didnt want to make a new thread but I have a question for my Shreveport/Bossier people.

The game is tomorrow on FOX at 3:35. But when I look at my Suddenlink tv guide it shows college basketball?
Please dont tell me they are going to air a basketball game over the Saints game...

Regional broadcasts are over now that the regular season is over. All of the playoff games are national broadcasts, i.e., if you have FOX and your market is not blacked out (not possible here) you will get the game.

Unless I'm missing something.
