Kurt Warner thinks Jameis is better than any QB in the draft. (1 Viewer)

You think Carolina and Atlanta like Darnold and Mariota better?
I think there's a wait-and-see because Atlanta did take a guy but it doesn't put any pressure on Marcus since it was a 3rd round pick. Overall, it's clear this was one of the most poorly viewed QB classes ever.

Underhill also mentioned in his latest article that the QB interest was mostly just a smokescreen. Only way we were considering one is if the first round went epically bad for us and our draft board.

Some people took our interest in Watson as an indictment on Winston and ran with it. Instead of just the fact that Watson is a proven top 5 talent which almost never becomes available.

I know this thread started out with a, Um, DUH, Kurt!, theme; but has anyone else been saying this? Kurt strikes me as someone who doesn't do as much parroting as the other THs do and actually has some fresh takes of his own and certainly should understand the position.

Anyway, I'm just saying I'm a little surprised at the initial reaction because I didn't think there were that many of us around here who are so sure about JW that they weren't kinda psyched to hear this take when we kept hearing the Saints would take a QB.

Kurt's unorthodox path to the Hall of Fame gives him insight other THs don't have.

16 years with 1 head coach and his demeanor and individual personality, the Saints fan base is unfamiliar and slower grasping a new different face and voice

Dennis Allen has told us exactly what they were looking for in the draft and what they thought of Winston

DA is black and white and straightforward. He is a terrible bluffer and liar. Louie thinks what comes out of DAs mouth is 95% truth and the 5% rest is because he can't answer

I think the dots are there but for whatever reason, some people do not want to connect them. 1) Most people that wanted us to draft a QB conceded that none of these guys would beat Jameis for the starting spot and would have to sit awhile and even Jameis mentioned how he was looking forward to going into camp knowing he would get all the the reps; 2) his deal is a two-year deal and we get our 1st round pick back in a couple of years; 3) with the exception of going after a consensus top 5 QB, every move since Sean retired has been a continuation and not a shakeup. Jameis was the guy Sean named the starter and by all accounts, he is on schedule for a full recovery by the start of the season. The evidence is there but some people don't want to accept it. I'm not claiming he's the long-term answer (I hope he is) but the team seems willing to give a legitimate shot.
