Looks like they have 3 active fires - one, Getty Fire, affecting Brentwood area and West to Pacific.

What the heck is going on out there????

Hope any of our LA residents are safe.

High winds; low humidity. Just like the gulf has peak hurricane season, Cali has peak fire season and we are smack dab in the middle of it. Plus we haven't had rain in ages here. I think it's rained twice since June in San Diego and it was nothing significant. It's too bad the crazy amounts of rain we got last winter & spring didn't spread themselves out further into summer so that everything wouldn't be quite so dry.

My sister lives in Marin near San Rafael. PG&E turned off their power for the next three days starting yesterday.

She must live by the Guide Dogs for the Blind campus. The campus is currently closed due to poor air quality and other challenges. I hope the fires stay away and the puppies all remain safe!

She isn't that far north, but in that general area, yes.

wasnt the Paradise fire not too long ago or was that already a year ago ???

nm- Nov 2018. so it was last year.

Wow. It seems like an annual occurrence now. No longer " wonder if we gonna get a fire" but " wonder how bad the fire will be" this year type mentality?

Getty fire ( along with Saddleridge fire ) seem to be threatening tons of homes. and they look pretty close to each other too.

man o man.

PG&E seems to be under heavy scrutiny

No A/C, but they don't really need it in that part of Marin. Food spoilage is a bigger issue. They have had air quality issues with previous fires, but I don't think this one is close enough yet.

It's been devastating to the wine country in Sonoma though. A couple of wineries have already burned, and I heard yesterday that the entire town of Heralsburg is under threat.

I think they are facing a bunch of lawsuits.

Yeah - I think they're doing it for two reasons, one of which is that it is true that cutting power in high-risk areas will likely reduce fire outbreak. But also the context is that they're looking for some kind of legislative fix to limit their liability.

I was in Windsor, Ca yesterday and the head of the Kincade fire really got som momentum heading right towards the city. Fire came racing up to the back of the neighborhood and I thought Windsor was toast. The firefighters, hundreds of them, attacked the fire head on in a very coordinated effort. Those guys (and girls) were amazing. It was like watching a team sporting event and the underdog destroyed the favorite. Only a couple of houses sustained damage.

Few miles north earlier that morning the fires were spread into a bunch of small fires. Unfortunately it didnt end as well with several wineries burning to the ground.

My VP, who lives in Marin said it's very smoky out and he and his wife are without power and driving around trying to find signal to get updates on the fire.

One of our oncologists also lives up there and said he's been without power for awhile and everything in the fridge/freezer is lost and he's mad because the ice cream has melted.
