With MM not likely to be back till the middle of year, we would basically be back to where we left off(maybe just a little better on one side).

So what else needs to be done?

Here is what I hope:

DE-Grant-gets in shape
DT-Hollis
DT-FA(Rogers) or God sends Dorsey or Ellis to us.
DE-Smith-gets in shape
OLB-Fujita
MLB-Vilma----Who has the higher 3rd us or Detroit? Draft one if we cant get Dorsey
OLB-Briggs(prolly cant afford) or ????? is there anyone else?
CB-SAMUEL
CB-FA(but who?) is there any good man corners that will come inexpensive? Draft DRC?
S-Harper
S-KK

KK is the only questionable one, but with that lineup even he will look good.
Am I wrong to say we cant afford SAMUEL and BRIGGS?
Is there any other DT's in FA?

no way in hell we get Briggs if we end up getting Samuel.
And I'd rather KK than Bullocks anyday, hopefully Kevin steps it up in TC. And also, I wholeheartedly agree with our DE's getting in shape...what was supposed to be the strongest part of the unit, ended up being a huuuuge dissapointment, and not enough blame is put on them for our woes, when in reality they were just as much of a reason for the struggle as any other position.

wow didnt know both of our DE's were out of shape last year. Is that why their production was so low?

I think we can afford both, but not much else this year or next when we still need to resign half of our offensive linemen in the next two years, Colston, Smith, still could use a S with good play recognition who plays at the right depth and takes the right angles in pass support and makes the tackles in run support, still need a WR opposite of Colston or at the very least a good slot if Meachum turns out, and could use someone dependable and all around skills at the TE position so we don't have to keep 4 or 5. And lets not forget about depth and special teams.

Sign FA:

Asante Samuel, CB, New England Patriots
Gibril Wilson, FS, New York Giants
Kawika Mitchell, OLB, New York Giants
Trade for Johnathan Vilma, MLB, New York Jets

Draft:

Trade up for Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU or Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC

They both saw a lot of double teams because our DTs weren't eating up blockers. That's why Dorsey would be so valuable to us. They both did seem a litte quicker in years past, however.

FA signings never work out like I predict (well drafts don't too much either) but I say draft:

1st round- DRC
2nd round- Trevor Laws or Mayo
3rd round- Goff

Vilma isn't even walking yet. I'd draft Lofton/Mayo in the second. One of them will still be there and they could start for us....but Vilma would look nice on that IR....:mwink:

I would try like hell to trade for Rogers or Williams and if it doesn't work try to move up and take Dorsey/Ellis.

That would set us at D since safety will not be changed. Let's face it, you can't make chicken salad out of chicken **** so I'd like to see what Harper and Bullocks could do with a good pass rush, good CB play, and not having to worry about RBs in the secondary. I'm sure the coaches feel the same way.

Then we could look for a WR and TE and go BPA.
