Lets ASSume the rumor is true, What else needs to be done? (1 Viewer)

Grant/Thomas/10th pick (Balmer Ellis or Dorsey)/Smith
Fujita/????/40th pick (Crable or Adibi)
Samuel/Harper/Kaesviharn/McKenzie(Young)
If we can fill in the ???? we can actually go BPA starting in the 3rd. This offseason may be one to remember. And remember, a LB picked between #10 and #42 has won DROY 8 of the last 11 years. Should be our turn.

Why do you thnk MM won't play till the middle of the year? Do you know something I don't?

I am not saying we will get Briggs, but your statement is not true.

I am not sure the Saints are a high enough revenue team to bring in both of these guys...Samuel I would imagine will bring in $20+ million to sign and Briggs probably $15+...throw in Will Smith, Colston, and others, and that up front cash seems like it would be too high.

I think our d tackles also hurt the productivity of our ends, though they were both a little heavy. I wonder if they were asked to put on pounds to help stop the run? I really like that guy Mitchell from NY. I watched him for the first time in the playoffs and thought he looked pretty good. Does anyone know off the top of your head how old he is?

I've thought this before, as well. In 06, we were horrid against the run. I bet the safetys were told to watch the run more, too. We really do need a good DT and MLB.

What is this about McKenzie being going until 8 games into the regular season? What did he do, have a C-spine injury?

And I think Usama Young is being overlooked. I thought he looked good at times last year. Hopefully with another traning camp and preseason under his belt he can step into the starting lineup if McKenzie is indeed gone and at worst play the nickel.

When you tear stuff like that you're normally out a year and it happened late in the season. If things go bad he could be out all of 09, if things go good he may be JOGGING about the time preseason is going on. He'll still need to get up to speed after that.

But I kind of agree with you, between David, Usama, maybe MM, and an FA pickup like Florence or Gay or a 3rd/4th round draft pick, the odds are good that someone steps up for that #2 role.

Unlike Deuce, his injury occured at the end of the season. Therefore, he probably won't be ready at the start of the season. Probably start the season on the PUP list actually.

I think that's a better argument although we bring in just as much money as the Colts who have several high-paid guys from Manning to Wayne to Harrison to Freeman to Mathis to now Sanders and Clark. It can be done but you just have to make sure you do it with the right guys. And I am sure Addai will get his when he becomes a FA.

Eventhough we pick up Samuels, I still see us still picking up Cromartie or Jenkins with the #10 pick. Just imagine our DB's would go from one of the worst to above average. Trade for Vilma, resign Young and pick up a young DT like Trevor Laws, DeMario Pressley, Dre Moore, Red Bryant or Pat Sims in the second. In the 3rd round you can still pick up a pretty good MLB in Phillip Wheeler, Beu Bell or Tavares Gooden.
