While I know it is quite difficult to accomplish, I would really like to see as much of this current team remain intact as possible. My main reason is because I want players who felt the sting and the insult of the no call to have that burning drive throughout the next season. Someone who wasn't on the team to experience it won't feel the same. Now, I'm not saying that I don't want us to bring top quality guys in if we can. I just want to minimize changing the dynamics of the current group.

I just looked. We have quite a few guys as potential free agents. Of course, I want Ingram back. Definitely Lutz. But the list is a bit longer than that. I'm hoping that they'll be willing to take a slight discount to stay here knowing they have a good shot at a championship next year and to get some revenge.

TE.

A lot of people will want a big name like Cook, Graham, Gates, etc.

I say we go after one of these two:

They are both coming off of low contracts and could be had for cheaper than the big name targets.

We are in desperate need of a big body to get the easy first down over the middle and a redzone target.

If Uzomah is a decent blocker he looks like a perfect fit just going off the highlight videos. His hands and routes look to be much better than James who looks like he's primary used as a short yardage pass catcher.

Considering that I want to keep the team together, and some of our young players will sign an expensive second contract, I think we don't need new players.

What we need is for some of our young players to play better.

In case we bring someone, let's keep it cheap, and bring players that have been released, that way we can recoup our 3rd rounder for Teddy in 2020.

I think we need some O line depth. Had our O line not been banged up, we are hoisting that Lombardi. I don't see WR as that big of a need if Dez returns. A TE, yeah, would be nice, but I'd rather draft one. Maybe some D line depth too, with Big Rank being down for a minute. I'd like some bulk up the middle. I think Davenport will come on in his 2nd year, not that he had a bad rookie season. I think Trey is still on the roster along with Okafur so, we are good at DE.

Agree on keeping the team together, but Watson needs to be replaced. We could settle for a primarily pass catching TE because we have Hill as a blocking TE. Now, MAYBE Arnold could be that guy. And we need a stopgap for Rankins. Bromley? We need a better third safety than Coleman. Banjo? He did have a 2-interception game. Leribeus will be back, which solves a lot of problems on the OL but not the fact that I can't spell his name. :covri: Bushrod probably won't, so that needs to be fixed.

Most of these holes can be filled by relatively cheap free agents. The draft will not be helpful because we don't have enough picks.

I'd like get Earl Thomas on a 3 year deal/ 2 year guarantee to solidify the 3rd safety and try to improve deep ball defense. Wide Out... Golden Tate? A June 1st Brown trade is super unlikely and need a lot of moving parts to happen... First... The relationship between them has to become unsalvagable.

Jady Garrett at DT with Rankins recovering. I think that is it besides oline Depth.

The main reason (other than having someone that convert short yardage and catch td's) for getting a TE is this:
The only two we have on the roster are Hill and Arnold.
Arnold was great early in the season then fell off a cliff. Hill is what he is, should be 2nd/3rd string on the depth chart.

Grady Jarrett? I've been wanting to sign him too. Weakens our opposition and solidifies the line all at once.

I think we need to take a page out of the Patriots playbook and surround Drew with a lot of guys who can get open quickly. They don't have to be down the field burners but they need short area quickness. Get the ball out of Drew's hands quickly and let the receivers get the YAC.

And TE is a must. That entire position needs an overhaul. Sign two and draft one. In the draft the value for TEs is in the middle rounds so while we don't have many high end picks, we should be in a good position to take a quality TE prospect.

I like the idea of plucking Grady Jarrett from the Falcons...serves a need and weakens a division rival. I don't know what is going to happen with Mark Ingram....if it comes down to strictly money he's gone because another team will outbid the Saints. Maybe the Saints should give him a deal with a hefty signing bonus so they can spread the cap hit over a few years. Finally, there has to be another receiver or tight end for Drew. There's no way we get by with just Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara as threats next season. This team was best when you had guys like Colston and Graham running down the seams. That is sorely missed in this offense.

With Ingram, I guess it all comes down to how much he wants another shot at a ring / revenge. He's gonna get paid either way, so if top dollar isn't what he's about, then he should stay.

From what has been said by both Loomis and Mark, I believe a deal will get done. Mark has openly said it's more important for him to retire here. With us being this close to a ring I see us being a hot landing spot this year.
