Fwiw im fairly certain that the reason ive never tried drugs is directly attributable to an early 1980s episode of Little House wherein the Albert character gets hooked on morphine and , in the ‘very special episode’ two-parter, he attempts to get clean, has night sweats and vomits and screams and cries and everything else you can imagine …. I remember it as vividly as if it had aired 6 months ago, it’s been over 40 years… it kinda scarred me, or scared me, or both .. that 2 hours of television obviously left quite the impression on my still-developing brain and kept me away from the hard stuff for my entire life.. or at least up until now .

Something that I just remembered because of this news: after the original show as cancelled after a decade, they did a series of TV movies, the last of which ends with the townsfolk of the prairie BLOWING UP THEIR OWN TOWN WITH DYNAMITE to prevent a greedy land developer from getting his hands on it.

Yes, this saccharine, family friend period piece ultimately ends with everyone blowing up their own homes and businesses. in order to...not lose them?
