LSU Game Thread LSU in the Reliaquest Bowl (2 Viewers)

I’m feeling good about the offense next year but really worried about the defense. The secondary needs a reset.
If the defensive players we saw today are the best ones we have on the squad, there’s only one thing left to do once the new season starts…

Always take the ‘OVER’! :covri:

Sure was. Vegas gave me 10 points with LSU’s defense and no Daniels. Honestly wasnt expecting LSU to win. I won twice.
I took the ML on Wisconsin. Almost pulled it off.

A few interesting nuggets in here.

(1) Kelly pulled Nabors after he got the record and Nabors fought him a bit about it.
(2) Kelly said the halftime locker room was one of the lowest points of the season.
(3) and this:

Amid questions and concerns about the defense in particular from fans and media, Kelly said he wanted “continuity” on LSU’s coaching staff through the early signing period and the bowl game.

“We will evaluate now that the season is completed. I will do a full evaluation on all our staff,” Kelly said. “I wanted continuity through the bowl game. Now, my focus will be on 2024.”

Sounds like he's telling it like it is now. Hopefully that means we'll see some changes in the coming weeks.

I'm okay with this and it looks good for both Nabers and Kelly. Kelly is looking out for Nabers who could have opted out like MHJ, but wanted to play. Kelly knows that's it's a 3 WR race for 1st WR off the board in the draft and an injury in a bowl game could cost Nabers quite a bit of money if he declares. Kelly gets to be the bad guy with good intentions and Nabers gets to maintain that credibility that he didn't opt out of the bowl game which some teams hold against players.

I think Nuss has the potential to be a good college qb but the LSU offense without JD won't be nearly as dynamic next year....Without JD this year I really think LSU has a losing record.....the offense next year should be good, most of the oline is returning, and I think Kaleb Jackson was criminally underused (I think he is a better player than Diggs right now) and will get his chance....and the WR group will be good even if Thomas goes to the NFL.....but the long QB runs won't happen with Nuss and opposing D's won't have to account for that

I want Kelly gone, this D is the worst in recent memory and they stay with a DC that plays his best player away from his strengths (and the ball on most plays).....it's inexplicable that they would continue this farce....a struggling secondary's best friend is the pass rush.....

Looks like Matt House and other defensive coaches are fired.

LSU has parted ways with multiple defensive coaches, including defensive coordinator Matt House, multiple sources with knowledge of the situation told The Advocate on Wednesday.

House, cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples, safeties coach Kerry Cooks and defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey have been let go, sources said.
