Mock Draft McShay's Mock: Saints select Dart at 9. McShay doesn’t see Moore drafting Sanders. (1 Viewer)

Why? What assurance is there that his accuracy will get better?

Common sense of anyone who's ever played a sport or coached a sport consistently. You have to stop practicing/playing to regress or your body has to regress to affect your throws via age or injury.

If you need evidence. Take any 10+ year QB in the NFL and watch them from start of their career to finish. They all get better. Even Chase Daniels got better.

This isn't just football. This is baseball, kicking in soccer, literally pick any sport. Reflexes of formula one drivers. The list goes on and on and on.

The common consensus. Yet I can’t ignore that the adversity Dart has overcome using his leadership traits, football IQ and athleticism has certainly given pause to some for some measure of consideration. All it takes is 1 team, but it certainly does seem the Titans are heavily leaving to Ward.

It's important to note that even the pros get it wrong plenty, despite all their resources. You have to look no further back then last year. Anyone who watched both USC and LSU knew JD5 was the selection the Bears should've made. Yet the Bears rolled with Caleb Williams and they got it wrong. Not because Caleb Williams will be a bust. But because JD5 was simply better and already has proven it.

I'm not saying Dart is better then Ward. I didn't watch Ward (only highlights) so I can't make that claim out of anything but ignorance and arrogance. This is why I refrain on commenting on Ward's chances for success vs not. But I won't dismiss Dart just because the media who get's it wrong every year seemingly says I should. T
You’re right that the media gets it wrong. There is a ton of groupthink when it comes to the draft. We get use to seeing certain names in mock drafts that when there are deviations we tend to think that it’s because players are “moving” or teams are reaching…when in reality, the draftniks were just wrong. But regarding Ward…I’ve seen him extensively. I hate the Hurricanes (FSU fan), but Ward is a stud. I’d love to have him as our franchise QB…and I’d be all aboard in trading future resources to get him. There is no QB prospect next year guaranteed to be better than Ward.

All these threads show is that the Draft needs to be a month earlier. WAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too long between combine and draft.
No, it just shows that fans have interest in the draft part of the offseason.

Sanders age means he has to play now. There would be to many distractions with Deion trying to get involved and control things. I agree. first pick needs to be an impact player who can start and excel immediately. Wide receiver or corner is the pick. these are the biggest need.

Ya, I can't say. All I can say for sure is I'd prefer Dart over any of the other QBs not named Ward (again, I simply wont comment on Ward because I really try not to judge on ignorance). Shough would be after Dart for me.

But if Kellen Moore pounded his fist for Ward and moved up to get him, I would nod my head and look forward to the outcome. I've really grown over the last 24-48 hours to realize I can't say the same for Sanders. I've come to the conclusion that I just don't have any belief in him at the NFL level even if Moore is in love with the pick. I've been really caught up in play style and talent. Neither of those screamed good for me nor bad. I was concerned about so many LOS throws and the attempt (or lack thereof, rather) for a comeback in games like KU. But then I realized that isn't what really bothered me. I realized it was his position of never having a coach that was anyone else then his father from high school all the way through college. I was talking with a friend last night, and he reminded me of the temper tantrum we watched him throw vs KU when he shoved a ref. Those two things kinda put a hard stop for me on wasting anymore time sorting through my thoughts.

In Todd McShay's mock draft posted today via his YouTube podcast, he has a surprise pick of Dart to Saints at 9 (with Sanders still available) and feels strongly that Sanders is not a fit for Coach Moore. He reiterated that he is just sharing the intel he's gathered. This would track with what I've been saying about signs pointing to Sanders not being the pick at 9, though I didn't have us selecting Dart there either. What a crazy draft season this year. Feels like anything could happen.

FYI he has Cleveland trading up to 15 with the Falcons to draft Shedeur.

Dart would be a better fit than Sanders.

try to determine the new Saints vibe and figure out if Shedeur will fit. For the offensive side, i sense alot of togetherness and unselfishness and communications amongst all of the coaches. KM clearly isnt a tyrant that has a vision that must be accomplished or else. Hes going to rely on the whole unit and come to consensus' when it come down to the big decisions. I would also expect our next QB to be like KM was, personality, skill level, etc, and also have the same traits that Nuss Sr. has trained into his son Garret. Shedeur doesnt fit this type at all. I dont even think we're drafting a QB this year. We have DC4, and DC4 could technically play for a few more years. If he was turned off of DC4, then he;d be gone. So QB isnt an urgent need like the fans think. With that said, if we did draft Shedeur id be stoked, because it would mean that Shedeur is exactly who they want, and id be happy with that. But from the outside, he doesnt seem like a fit.

Here's an interesting thought.

Compare Dart (or any QB in this draft) to the 2020 draft.

Burrow was the obvious #1 choice. But after we had Justin Herbert who went 6th overall and Jordan Love who went 26th overall.

I think there's reasonable argument could be made that even in that draft Dart could've been QB2 or at least QB3 off the board ahead of Love. But again, I detest the idea of him starting as a rookie.

The Packers with Love were interesting. They saw someone who needed to sit and learn and still took that person in the first round because they believed he was future franchise QB1 material which is exactly what I believe Dart is.

Just for the record, I still fully believe that trading up for Jeanty is our number one scenario, along with drafting little Nuss next year ;)

If Moore chooses Dart, it’s because he see something in him that screams NFL franchise qb. Right now I see someone who could be a starter but his athleticism gives him room to grow with the right coaching.
