Mock Draft McShay's Mock: Saints select Dart at 9. McShay doesn’t see Moore drafting Sanders. (4 Viewers)

As someone that was a bit skeptical of Sanders, I've warmed up a little on him the deeper I've dug into him. Didn't help that one of the first game cut ups I watched of his was the bowl game against BYU, which was arguably one of his worst performances. It's really tough to gauge certain aspects of his game as I've seen so many people reiterate how poor Colorado's OL was the past 2 years. It's difficult trying to find that balance of how much the sacks he took were his fault vs how much was on the OL. I know Sanders has a tendency to drift backwards and try to run around the edge if nothing is open. However, is this a product of constantly having poor pass protection or an actual flaw in his game? There are examples of him stepping up into the pocket, so I'd like to think the drifting backwards thing is correctable.

I just finished watching this game against Baylor from 2024. A couple things stick out for me. His mobility may be a bit better than I initially gave him credit for. He makes some nice plays on the run either picking up yards with his legs or buying time to make a pass out of structure. His arm is also better than I initially thought. He doesn't have an elite arm by any means, but he's shown he can get good velocity on throws when he needs to.

He doesn't have an "elite" physical trait that guys like Mahomes/Allen do with their arm talent, or Jackson/Hurts do with their athleticism. However, guys like Joe Burrow, CJ Stroud, Bo Nix, Tua Tagovailoa (when healthy) have been pretty good younger QB's that don't really have "elite" physical traits, but are good in many aspects of the game and have shown they are worthy of being top 15 picks (so far). I'm at the point where I'd be happy with Sanders at pick #9 if it happens. I also would be happy with Dart/Milroe. I see enough positives in each of these 3 QB's that we are potentially going to be looking at that I'm just hoping to see the Saints "finally" take a shot on a QB in the first round.

None of the QB's are even remotely elite. With a really good team around them, Sanders and Dart can win. But they most certainly won't carry a team. Hurts would not have guided the Chiefs to the Super Bowl. I like the guy. He's an above average QB. The Eagles won with a great defense and running game.

I can't tell you how much this statement makes little to no sense. Define "elite"? Out of the whole world there are only 32 QB1's in the NFL. By that definition alone, being one and be successful is elite in its own right. If you're in the top 20 for performance, you're doing amazing.

Now look at last year's draft. Ward, Dart and Shough can easily rival being picked over Penix Jr and Bo Nix. Go back to the 2020 draft where you have Burrow, Herbet and Love. Ward and Dart likely would've gone before Love. Maybe even rivaled Herbert.

Did you not watch any of these QB's play during the season? They are absolutely "elite" and have fair chances at being top 20 QB1's if they land in good teams (aka, not Browns).

My biggest issue with the statement is since when has it become so vilified to be a QB that needs a good supporting cast to succeed?

A Drew Brees is likely never walking through those doors on Airline Drive ever again.

You want a good QB that can make all the throws so that when you do have the rest of the team in a good spot, you’re ready to roll.

Expecting a guaranteed miracle worker out the gate in virtually any year in which you’re not picking in the top 2 is fantasy. The hope would be to pick the right guy that at worst can lead a good team, and at best, you indeed stumble into someone whose skills translate better than expected and is someone that could carry a team; the latter is not likely though.

If a Drew Brees type is the standard, you’re probably going to be a disappointed Saints fan for the rest of your life.

New report saying Dart is on teams draft boards ahead of Sanders.

Dart ahead of Sanders

If you had watched both play throughout the season, this was obvious. But that's hard for many to do. I'm fortunate my busy schedule and family life allowed for it.

The interesting part for me, is how it's stating Dart is the second QB ranked behind Ward. I've been toying with the idea and wondering if Shough could've potentially taken that spot but was hesitant. I only watched two games of Shough and he didn't seem better than Dart to me, but I also could've watched games where he wasn't at his best. It seems I should be shifting my thoughts to Shough being before Sanders, which I was mostly convinced of already with only little hesitation.

Next season I plan on watching Nuss and Allar as much as possible and would like to include Sellers. As much as I watched Sanders and Dart, I wish I had watched Ward at least 4 or 5 times.
