try to determine the new Saints vibe and figure out if Shedeur will fit. For the offensive side, i sense alot of togetherness and unselfishness and communications amongst all of the coaches. KM clearly isnt a tyrant that has a vision that must be accomplished or else. Hes going to rely on the whole unit and come to consensus' when it come down to the big decisions. I would also expect our next QB to be like KM was, personality, skill level, etc, and also have the same traits that Nuss Sr. has trained into his son Garret. Shedeur doesnt fit this type at all. I dont even think we're drafting a QB this year. We have DC4, and DC4 could technically play for a few more years. If he was turned off of DC4, then he;d be gone. So QB isnt an urgent need like the fans think. With that said, if we did draft Shedeur id be stoked, because it would mean that Shedeur is exactly who they want, and id be happy with that. But from the outside, he doesnt seem like a fit.

I don’t think that Carr can be gone even if he wants him gone. Contractually it makes sense to keep him on the roster (at least until June…but more likely for the season). I’m pretty sure we’re moving off of Carr when it’s feasible…likely next year.

Oh I 100% agree that the draft could and should take place in early April. No free agents are being signed at this point. The combine is over. What are we waiting for?

I don’t think that Carr can be gone even if he wants him gone. Contractually it makes sense to keep him on the roster (at least until June…but more likely for the season). I’m pretty sure we’re moving off of Carr when it’s feasible…likely next year.

What would happen if he plays 17 games and wins the division and hosts and wins a playoff game? Is that enough for the Saints front office to run it back w/ DC4 in 2026?

I'm sure they would try to run it back in 2026 if that happened. But, it seems unlikely Carr would want to do that without a contract extension before the start of 2026. He's highly unlikely to be willing to play on a one year contract and I don't know that the Saints could afford to pay him $65 million next year with no way to push the money into future years so they would have to work some kind of deal with Carr. That would likely mean giving Carr a contract extension. Whether they would do that or not would likely depend on what their options are at QB. i.e., whether they drafted a young QB of the future this year.

In their eyes, a healthy Oline and DC4 can compete. So what piece at 9 would you add to last years team, at the beginning of week 3? Its this person that we're drafting at 9. Its going to be Tyler Warren, Tet or Jeanty. Considering we signed Cooks and have AK and CEE, we're 99% drafting Warren. Why? Because we do not have a healthy blocking TE on the team. Foster and Taysom are both injured and JJ is not a blocking TE. Obviously if someone like Carter or Graham falls then we take them. All this QB hype is about round 2 or 3 or 4. Not 1.

So, I think you have to draft for the long term. If they don't think there is a franchise QB in this draft, then fine take BPA or trade down at #9. That could mean Jeanty, Warren, or even an OT or CB. But, if they do think there is a franchise QB in this draft available at #9, they would be dumb to pass on him because they have short term needs.

However, If we were to go that route, then the rookie would have to have a heck of a training camp and pre-season. Or have a year like ATL where Penix started mid year. Is Rattler out of the conversation, just because he wasn't picked by KM? (Technically no saints players were picked by KM)

When all those other teams drafted a franchise QB early, they were already a talented team like the Colts or spent years in the top five of the NFL draft. The Texans were a top five picking team two years straight before drafting Stroud. The Bengals were mainly struggling because of Dalton. They drafted Burrow and another high pick in 2021 got them back on top. The Bills were already improving before they drafted Allen. And the Browns. Drafting Myles Garrett, Chubb to go along with Mayfield is going to instantly help.

We're not those teams. We were doing well with a defensive identity but no OL helps at all.

No. Rattler just isn’t QB1 material. Maybe that’ll change later in his career. He may start pending what happens in the draft vs signing a veteran and that’ll be a huge sign of his future. Basically the only good sign for Rattler is if he we don’t draft a QB and we don’t sign a vet and he’s named QB1.
