    Michael Thomas’ impact with Saints[

By Mike Detillier / Sports Correspondent

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas came to Houma on Wednesday to be the guest speaker for the inaugural Best of the Bayou Prep Awards Banquet for area high school athletes.

Before the question and answer session on stage, I had an opportunity to sit with the Saints; star wide receiver and he is ready for the 2018 season to kick off.

“There isn’t anything anyone can do for how we lost the playoff game versus the Minnesota Vikings, but we have to move on from that,” Thomas said. “I have never been part of anything or any game that was even close to how that game ended on the final play, but we will not dwell on that. It’s a new season and we closed the book on 2017. For us, it is all about focus and producing out on the field. I’m excited to get things started, and our goal is to first win the NFC South. It’s super tough with Atlanta, Tampa Bay and Carolina, but we have to win the NFC South first. Hopefully we can stay healthy and we will be focused and ready when the playoffs come, and our goal every season is to get to the Super Bowl and win it. But we know we have to take care of business in the NFC South first.”

Thomas is excited with the additions of veteran tight end Ben Watson, former Chicago Bears wide receiver Cameron Meredith and rookie wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith to the Saints lineup.
