Mike Carey Sunday (1 Viewer)

I thought that the call Ed Hochuli made a few years was bad, but the call that Mike Carey called overturning Graham's touchdown was absolutely ridiculous. How can you not call that a touchdown. He clearly had both feet in bounds and had control of the ball. That has to be the worst call I have ever seen. Just lucky that we won the game. Would have been ashame to see us lose because of a bad call.

As much as I hate penalty plagued games, I have to wonder that maybe it wasn't them. Maybe the calls were all good calls and they have good eyes and are better than most crews.

The reason I bring this up is I'm thinking back to I believe the Ram's game when all the o-linemen were complaining they were being held and it wasn't called once. Maybe a crew like these prevents BS like that from happening because they aren't afraid to call 3 penalties in a row to get the game clean.

And this game did clean up in the 2nd half as the teams had to adjust and stop doing stupid and/or illegal things. Just a thought.

Could be onto something I know last week I saw Meachum getaway with a hold. I give them that but what about JG's TD?

Well I'm talking illegal tactics.

I disagree with the call on that Jimmy G catch too, but although I hated all the calls, upon replay, I can't say that what they called was untrue when it comes to the little yellow hankies :).

I mean even when Dunbar held early on that Sproles called back TD return, it was holding. I'm more mad at Dunbar for being STUPID then it being called.

Is it just me, or does he look like a black Lieutenant Dangle?

Dunbar wasn't even on the field...

Wonder if the line has any effect on penalty calling???

I apologize for anything nice I said about Carey before. I hate when a ref tries to directly control the outcome of a game. Terrible job today.

Y'all still like the guy?

Yeah, I still like him as a ref. I think on average he does a decent job. Today's game won't make his highlight reels but I also think there were a lot of penalties both ways called correctly. I can't remember looking at a replay in which a penalty was called saying to myself "Well, that's just awful call!".

Like a baseball ump's whose strike zone is small, it was apparent that this officiating team was going to call everything. Neither team adjusted to that very well.

... but the call that Mike Carey called overturning Graham's touchdown was absolutely ridiculous.
That's just it. He didn't overturn the call. The call on the field was an incomplete pass. The problem was that he didn't overturn the call.
Personally, I thought it was a TD but it wasn't the worse non-overturned challenge I've seen.

The penalties that really bother me are the ones which happen behind the play, once the ball has passed the guilty player(Bushrod was guilty of this at least once today).

We won, regardless. If I'm Sean Payton, I'd take advantage of this and use it as motivation to clean up some things going into the home stretch.

You gotta pay more attention bro ...
